During the evenings I keep the closet door closed and the temps reach 84 or so, during the day I have the door open and it has been staying around 74.

I was thinking that a 4" In-line fan/filter combo would work for odor control. For ventilation and temp. control, I was thinking about stepping up to an 8" fan.

If you're temps aren't getting over 84 a 4" should be fine. 8" would be over kill and a lot louder.

I am with muddy, 8" would be a bit of an overkill. If you plan on upgrading to a larger space, or something in the future, maybe the 6" or 8", but with what you have, I'd stick with the 4". It will definitely be less noise.

Ok, thanks for the help guys. What is the recommended daytime/nighttime temp. for cannabis?

I dont plan on upgrading to a larger space, I just want to make sure this one is done right. I'd rather spend the money and have a nice setup that will last, than take the cheap way out.

My goal is to create a growspace that is ideal for autoflowering cannabis production, hopefully with everyone's help I can do just that.

Something to consider about fan noise, is using a smaller diameter fan on a larger diameter duct.
On my little setup the hum of vortex fan was a big consideration/problem, but the whoosh of the air exiting the vent was a bigger issue for me.
Using the larger diameter duct like a 6" or 8" for the exhaust with a 4" fan driving it would reduce air noise considerably.

Your welcome.
The larger duct won't really help with your temp issue, but would help reduce noise from a strong 4" fan.
That assumes that you are pulling air through your carbon filter and pushing it out of the tent with the larger ducting.
So, you could have your carbon filter with a 4" neck, attach that to a 4'inch duct run to your 4" vortex fan, attach the exhaust port to a 4"tp 6" adapter and then attach your exhaust duct to that.
If you prefer pushing air through your filter on the outside of your tent as some do, then you could get a filter with a larger neck/adapter. The filter will act as a baffle to some extent, but I am not sure how much wind noise you would get from the ducting in that scenario.
