:smoke: Yeeees, I'm a bawdy little monkey! Of course, I believe you! LMAO!! ..you did mention you had some grows under your belt, and clearly you have skills, so Hazah!! The water spreader might be harder to find; best try a "grow" or hydroponic shop (call around)... I'm not quite sure what's out there specifically though, see, what I'm using is the product we have at the nursery; it's made by Romeo, as in the fertilizer co., ... it's clear, kinda like detergent and weakly set gelatin in appearance, does make some suds, have no idea exactly what it's made of, but have been proven to be very mild. Yes, it's great for soil too! If soil gets that semi-waterproof dryness on top, a little spreader will make stuff go right on in.... So, research some products (I'll ask my local 'grow' place), and pick some up!
I get the feeling those other folks are onto something concerning Superthrive, so unless there's a dire rescue type need, best not continue to use it after flowering is well under way...(LOL!) nobody like extra lumber in their buds! ....and if your girls' color looks good to you, stay the course; if that changes, you got the hot tip to fix it!

My husband is a card, I'll tell ya... He might fuss a bit about all the fuss I'm giving the plants (haha) but he's happy to partake in the harvest!

---- If everything stays 'kosher' through summer/fall, I'll certainly continue the grow....for me, it's a numbers/legal safety thing too,... Our indian summers are very important for this, no doubt! The El Nino seeds are from a 1/4 I got, so they're reg's.... I'm not sure it's worth my time/risk to be expending resources on 'maybe' plants... film at 11:00 on that!
Hooray! for the late arrivals! I guess there's no telling how they'll turn out; most late germ's for me this time are not performing as well, but one P. Kush cracked and shooted just fine, but after that it's been a dogg! It's still around, about 3in. high, tiny everything, slow progressing, kept for amusements' sake only... Here we are at day 40 already! The ladies are nearing the end of week 6, beginning of week 7 and I had expected to be switching to bloom nutes at the next feeding. I'm feeding veg nutes tonight, but after comparing the pictures I may need to just hang back and let them tell me when they are ready... I feel like they were SOOOO slow to get going, so maybe they do have a bit more time to veg - which makes me HAPPY because the tallest two are about a foot and a half and I was **really** hoping for larger plants... :dance2:

Thank goodness for the pictures - I really don't see the change looking at them all day...

I just counted the weeks on the calendar, and turns out I'll be fine if they need a few more weeks to finish than I'd planned on *whew.*

It's a gorgeous day here, and I'm writing from the deck where it's 81 degrees. We have a canopy shading the deck and it's just balmy and perfect. Kentucky Derby starts in a few, might go inside for those 3 minutes but aside from that I'm stationed out here. Loving it!

It's the rapid progress of the side branching that stands out the most to me, but they're really shooting up too....(oh, your date posted, did you mean 4/30- 5/4?... surely, that didn't happen overnight,...if it did, I'm bringing my plant up to you!) Yes, definitely keep up with the veggy-nute's for bit longer,.. (re: PM) Isn't it funny how different each of them are from their siblings? Height, build,...who knows what the bud structure and aromatics will do! Most of mine are the same way; I certainly hope they branch and shoot like yours are doing now! we'll see in about 10 days (mine are at day 31) .... Looking at how well yours have done by transplanting them into their final soil, vs. me later, I believe that has made a significant difference; (!!) All the damn hand-wringing warnings about how Ocean Forest soil is too hot for young plants appears to be overstated, to say the least! Your girls showed no signs at all of nute' burn; no doubt I lost some steam during the time they were in the Light Warrior/OF mix... next time, it'll be 80/20 or something close, instead of the reverse, from the get-go!... I'd plant direct into final pots if I could, but there's no way to hide that many plants around here, plus I thought I'd have more losses than I did along the way....Oh well, welcome to the steep side of the learning curve! Oh yeah, Sapphire dahling,... do tell, how are the two different soils you used comparing? :brow: .... That's a great idea putting down that plastic over the ground! Less attractive to bugs, no hiding places near by (for earwigs!) -LOL! How's the netting project coming?...... Maybe I'll post a new round of pics tomorrow; the B. Lee auto's are without a doubt gonna be the big'uns in my brood!...

The K.I.S.S. method seems to be agreeable to these particular ladies! I am blind to all that growth, tho, seeing them all the time. Before the comparison pictures I really thought the vertical growth was slowing - which is a good lesson really; TAKE PICS at regular intervals if possible... I would have limited their potential just going by the numbers, and I think the week or two delay in growth/stunting/shock may just come out on the other end instead of being "lost," if that makes sense. We'll see how that theory pans out!

The differences in the plants ARE very interesting! Regarding OF soil - its true there is no nute burn, however I do think all those extra nutes have a stunting affect so I don't think you lost any time because of it - if anything I'd keep your mix the same or nix the OF and go with straight Jah Warrior.

ALL of the taller, more developed plants are in Roots Organic soil! If it's true that autos prefer a lower amount of nutes I may not be doing the plants in OF soil any favors by feeding at full strength, where the ones in Roots are just SO FREAKING HAPPY! I'm so convinced of this I purchased all Roots Organic soil for my photo grow this year. I may do a nute comparison on them! :dance2:

Hi Sapphire! Thanks for the hook-up (PM... sorry about the first two girls,..!); I don't doubt that straight outta the bag OF is too hot, which is why I blended it LW,... at the time some others (not Sensei-level growers) were claiming that unless it was a very low % OF it was going to be a problem (90/10% LW/OF max.) ; I doubted that, so I went 80/20 instead... My rant was that OF isn't that hot, clearly, since a couple truly good growers noted that by week 3-ish my plants were looking like they were a bit anemic, and they should get a little food because LW is very mild, and even at 20% OF it wasn't enough. You know there's no time really to make up for lost veg'ing with auto's, and from your great results, the way you managed the seedlings and soils was better than what I did! The nute' burn I had was because of the fert.' I used had urea free N, right now N, and it was a bit too much! (borderline overcompensation,.... lesson learned!)... My problem was being caught between what works best and maintaining stealth.... so, next batch, I'm upping the OF% some, so I can leave them in there longer before transplanting, or if it's only a few plants or so, do what you did, move'm into final soil sooner, instead of waiting until sexing/near sexing to do it! AND going RO for final soil! That is excellent see-for-yourself results, and RO does have a great rep'.... Thanks Dudette :smoke:

Ooohhh, I see waira! Yes, I transplanted after 10 days or so I think, which is definitely different than 3 weeks as far as nute needs go... I'm not sure one method is better than the other, tho - I know of many gardeners that wait for sex to show before giving a "permanent" spot in the garden. My autos were all feminized so I didn't even think about that as a consideration! In any case I totally agree with you that the plants would need more nutrients in the soil if they are not transplanted fairly quickly. Sorry for the misunderstanding! :smokebuds: Now I want to do more experimenting.... :dig: Gentle feeding after 7 days, 10 days, 14 days, etc... Oh well, gonna have to be next summer!

You know, I was thinking the same thing about not being able to make up the time lost but I'm surprised my girls are still growing right now when the guideline says 6 or 7 weeks most are ready for bloom... Whether the girls are giving me a week or two back (fingers crossed) or growing in the sunshine makes them take longer I don't know - probably the sunshine tho, huh... Either way you might be surprised, if your ladies follow the same pattern as mine so far!

OOHHH - just had a last minute thought about OF - some people add perlite to it which would cool it off a little I believe. To be honest I can tell the difference between the 2 soils by sight from the sheer amount of perlite in the Roots Organic, besides my extensive notes... LOL Food for thought.

Just an update here for the sake of updating I guess!

I finally started measuring the vertical growth, and it's slowing so I'm feeding the ladies bloom nutes today! One plant has a slight calcium deficiency (tiny orange spots - classic) so I'm (finally) adding cal-mag to the feeding. I also picked up a water saturator and some azamax.

What's that, you ask? Azamax? Not sure if I mentioned the bug bites that were plaguing just one of the plants here, but I didn't sufficiently destroy it. Well turns out there is an absolute infestation of baby grasshoppers! There is damage to maybe 5 of 12 plants, but 2 of those 5 are apparently very tasty... Anyway, my garden will NOT turn into a buffet for these little critters and they sure as hell won't start feeding on the rest of them! :firedevil:

It's too late to tell me I should have used something else (LMAO) - but I did my own research all over the place and made a decision for myself. Azamax will not only help get rid of the current infestation, it helps prevent future outbreaks and is effective on a crapload of asshole bugs...

I'm also in the process of getting my photosensitive seedlings set up in their larger pots.

OH - one last thing that is probably common sense to the rest of you... I need a watering can with the shower head, because I have no idea what my hubby did with the attachment on ours. Anyway, I was looking to pick one up while I was at the hydro store but fortunately they were OUT OF STOCK. I say fortunately, because they had a shipment coming in the next day, and I asked how much and he said $26!!

Um, turns out I can get one at Home Depot for about $5... So NOW I realize I've probably been WAAAYYY overpaying for a variety of things I could get elsewhere... I know hydro shops are the only ones that carry some items growers need, but I feel like a real idiot for not checking around first. :joint:

Good idea about the watering can w/ shower head! Thanks for reminding me,.. I have one, but without the shower head of course! Yeah, general gardening supplies are,....general (LOL!) No need to pay the convenience tax price hike for items like that,... $26?! Unless it was one of those cherry all brass units, which are really nice,...My old orchid mentor has one he bought in the '80's, and it still has the most even, gentle shower spray I've ever seen.... Do you have a nice pair of micro-tip snippers? Fiskar's makes an excellent pair, for about $12,...Home Despot has'm!
