Best strains for northern climate

Hi all

I'm all new to auto growing. If anybody get suggestions for latitudes 50-60 i will be grateful.

I've looked at Mephisto genetics. And it seems like the right choice. But do they perform in these lats. And what about outdoors?

I can't speak for Mephisto gear as I haven't tried them but I've gotten decent yields (and smoke) from Dutch Passion's Automazar, Autoextreme and Think Different, Joint Doctor's Chronic Ryder and Easyryder, Dinafem's Cheese Auto, Moby Dick Auto, and Haze Auto as well as a shit load of others. A decent yield for me outdoors is anything over an oz (not that I don't get the odd mini bud on a stick type plant). Finishing times for me usually 70-100 plus days from seed (started inside) but many nights less than 10 degrees C (50 F) which slows down growth considerably. I am north of 60 with frost anytime after end of August. Thank the God(ess) for Automatics.

If like here (55 N) you have unpredictable summers (sometimes dry/sometimes cold and wet, or otherwise shite), you might want to consider a pick-n-mix approach. Trying one of each so to speak. I've found what worked last year doesn't mean it will work this year. The Ryder x (crosses) like Easy Ryder, Diesel Ryder or any (insert name x Ryder) tend to be easy to grow, are compact - less than 3' (good if stealth is an issue) - and less prone to bud rot than some varieties with a denser bud structure, but as a result their yields can be low. I'm going to be using Ryder x crosses on a guerilla plot this year as they can just be left to get on with it without frequent site visits. Otherwise take your pick from the wide range of new exotics like the Mephisto's. or some of the Sativa dominant strains from Short Stuff.

Based on my experiences I wouldn't recommend any strains as necessarily suited to the conditions, pretty much everything I've tried has done nicely if the weather has been good, and nothing has been any good at all when the weather has been shite. Thus, for me at least, it's not so much a question of whether or not the strains are up to the job, as whether or not the weather is up to the job. Overall I would rate your typical auto as rather less reliable than your average tomatoes. If you can get decent tomato crops every year whatever the conditions then you should be in with a shout for some autos. Here's hoping for a sunny summer and a bountiful harvest

Last year I tried a Super Cali Haze, a mix pack and Russian Rocket Fuel from ShortStuff Seeds and Auto White Widow from Greenhouse Seeds at 55N.....the Super Cali Haze got closest to finishing and grew the biggest.

Here's hoping for a better summer this year!

Lolland Kush has been cultivated at Lolland, Denmark for 40 years. They grow up to 3 meter and kan give as much as a kg of buds.
