Old Reviews Best way to find out soil ph?

Ok folks whats the best way to check soil ph with a normal liquid meter,I know the most accurate way would be with a quality soil probe but don't have that option lol

Figured out all my feed ph blah blah between different waters but now need to figure out my promix which is one of the new peat/coco mixes

Any help would be appreciated so i can get my ladies in check and stop running into defs lol

No, I think the best way for soil is a slurry test. Many instructions online. I have a good ph meter, but for a slurry test I just use the GH tube from the GH test kit I bought before I got all serious about ph. 99% of all my troubles could have been easily explained if I had just paid more attention to ph before I started trying everything else.

Okay did a little slurry test but not too damn sure about it lol

I know this isn't best with a hand held tester but grabbed some soil out of the bag just to test and added enough distilled just to soak it and cover it a tiny bit then shook the crap out of it then let her sit for 20 minutes.

Stuck the pen in the slurry a couple times and PH came out @ 4.28?????? That can't be right

I don't use a pen. I don't even remember how I do it, but that's why I kept the little bottle of GH liquid. But yes. The old recipe called for distilled water, but maybe what they are looking for is ph7 water. Back then everybody didn't have a pen.

So runoff test this time on one of my crappy plants with same soil

Feed ph in 6.35 with first part of runoff coming out at 4.93,Made sure to do a slow soak when i was feeding so it would all get saturated proper,Let her sit for a minute or two then preceded to pour the rest in slowly for collecting.

Have to water my other little plant so will test again to see if same results

So fed other plant with almost identical ph 6.39 (off by - .04 lol) and runoff was pretty close to the 1st coming out @ 4.83
