Hey guys quick ? Whats better sup lighting cfl or led? I have a M0006 and close to 400w of cfls would i be better off getting a nother led like a blackstar or should i keep my cfls and save the money? My tent is 3x3x6ft. My temps run about 77-84F(71-75 lights off)HR 35-50% can get up to 55-60% when lights off if that helps in the decision.
I use 2 cfls of the 3 i have now and i think if i add the last one my temp will rasie close to the hight 80s 90 i dont use co2 right now.

dude I got 10 200w equivalent cfls and my temps only rise 10 degress with lights on but I don't keep them closed in.... sorry side tracked I would use cfl for sides cause you can move them around daily and leave the blackstar for canopy..thats just me cause I like messin with them daily......I would put that money towards more seeds cause you can never have to many strains

Amen to that bro! Lol

If the question is only about lighting, I would swap LED for CFL in any situation, even if it meant losing side lighting but gaining canopy coverage. The temps will be lower and the bud will be higher quality, in my opinion. If money is a factor, I'd leave your setup alone and buy seed as mentioned above, but if you gotta change something, I would support more top-down LED lighting.

Lowers are lowers are lowers, and while lighting to the sides of the plants can have advantages for certain setups, I think getting great top-down penetration to mimic the light of the sun is going to net the best product. Until someone develops a true-sun spectrum, I think LED gives you the most control of that. The Hortilux Eye Blue MH's are VERY close and have a great spectrum, that would be my bulb if I could afford the heat of HID right now, but I'm 100% satisfied with my BlackStar 270w Chrome. The flowering hormones and best producing bracts are in the tips of the tops of the stems, so getting light to the larf is never my priority...

decicsions, decisions........ i guest the smart way to think about it is, save money get thru this first grow and see if i get the bud quality im after, if not take the money i saved and get another LED to replace my cfls. then once im get the hard tight buds im after i can take the money im saving from growing to get more seeds, no point in buying too many seeds if i cant grow them they way i want to right?

Your clf need to be changed every few yrs before its output drops.
So LED will out live cfl.
But induction flouro will last twice as long as LED

If you broke I'd add some small 20w hallogen screw in bulbs to supplement he cfl supplementing the led...

I didn't like the horti blue HPS or the CMH lights as near as much as i like induction flouro.
But I supplement my induction flouro with led..

I thort halogen lights were bad for plants?

LED all the way bro best performing lights to date !

Even a 90w UFO or 120w LED could add a dramatic amount of yield to your current situation

thanks for the info in the pm kaiju but i could not find the light you had mentioned also, me being not to keen on led technology, but how much good can a 35-45w led do? im only asking because i dont know.

IMHO.
Incandescent an halogen spectra are great, but hey get hot if big ,and aren't very effecient. I
Flouro is pretty efficient and pretty full spectra, but always lack 660 an 730 for Emerson effect an pfr....
