Georgia,
gimme ur best guess as to the age of those betty's in ur last pic!
they look great, good sized it apears...
any info on thier heights? tallest? shortest?
and how do u think there flowering is coming?
they look great so far!
The range of height isn't too bad considering they are bred as dwarfs and there isn't much of a history with dwarves. Their consistency is about seventy five percent at eighteen or so inches. There are a couple significantly shorter and about five which have stretched a lot.
I just got done growing a Betty. I've got some questions!!! Were did you get the regular seeds? The supply I had was old. My on the vine odor was low-- and I specialize in low odor strains. The up close smell was skunk #1--we actully moved the plant for fear it would one day stink. It did not and I kept 1/3 of the buds on the vine untill late so the seeds would be good and ripe--no stink on re-absorb of trichromes. I intend to see if Betty Boo is a improvement to Lowryder 2 as the Base Auto Strain--- for crossing to new strains that I want to turn into an auto. I right now have Betty Blues (Blueberry-Betty Boo) comming up as an F1. My Betty's got 26 inches-jusrt right for artifical light. Finnishing day was day 68 ---reabsorb started day 69.
The seeds are joint doctor. I wouldn't count on getting them in the states very easily. They are old stock too. I am an approved canadian medical grower and that's how I have them. There is little doubt they are a much more potent strain than the lowryder. Undoubtedly lowryder is the most stable auto strain in the world.
The smell is not insignificant. I turned off the carbon filter on my out air and can smell the plants from fifteen feet away in a breeze.
Their flower is very aggressive about a week after it starts. They drink like crazy for about five hours and then need a down light cycle for three to four hours. And then repeat. The dark cycle is when plants really build their mass. So this rapid cycling seems to be the best answer. At the time the plants flowered i had a huge cal-mag deficiency. Partially because i was light on nutes, but they exploded around day twenty. That's part of the learning curve. A full hydro system would be good for these, as they are small, and the nutes can be altered in minutes to accomodate any needs. Heavy drinkers mess with soil ph pretty bad, just raping specific nutes within hours and so that poses a problem. My betty boo always has some plants finish around fifty days and a few make it to nine weeks. Mostly they are are fifty five to sixty.
I find that when plants stop drinking is when they need to get much less light and lots of high temps, followed by a freezing cold flush, rinse-down with hydrogen peroxide water, 24 hours of light and 48 hours of cold dark, very dry. Easy clipping and the buds are firm and full.
