Biochar

I did order the basalt, thanks KIS. I have to post a pic of a pot I just made up and dropped a seed in. I had a like bit of malted barley bits left over in a bowl so I sprinkled 6 or 8 not fully ground seeds on top and a tiny bit of dust. I thought this was cool

The mold is probably from the seeds, not the basalt, but is is a sign of active microbes in your soil. I've never looked at these molds as anything more than innocuous and I just turn the soil over when I see it (usually from alfalfa meal added). That being said, I know there's all the Probiotic cannabis growers that are all about it and it seems to work well for them. I'm more amazed than anything by all the ways we can grow this plant.

So you normally turn this over into the soil? I can do that, thanks.

Just ordered the basalt and it's on the way so there isn't any in this bag. It will be my first with biochar and extra compost. The basalt will go in the soil I have cooking right now.

I tend to ramble some when I post and am excited about how things are going. This soil work has made me happy. I think all the nudging @Eyes on Fire has done started me on the journey. Thanks man!

i mix baby food rice cereal in my soil.
@Pops

Any amended mix is my opinion, but I'm a noob! There are probably many different things that coukd feed in a similar manner.
I hope someone smarter than me will chime in

I used it as a feed for fungi, sprinkled on top of the soil then spraying on myco wettable powder and molasses. Actually no I used ground barley malt. The baby cereal was suggested and I used what I had and it worked.:d5: It's an easily -available food source for microbes I guess.
