Lighting BlackStar The Manual

When i say it burned out i meant it burned out! Black and toasty around just that 1 center LED lens. Melted plastic shit. Left a milky film on the inside of the glass of my light that i had to take apart and clean off. IT BURNED OUT. I am used to electronics, it had to have shorted from the factory, a LED wouldnt just burn out for no reason. A buddy is finishing out his grow with it as a supplement or id post a pic. That 1 LED is fried!

I had the same diode go as well. They are honoring the 1 year warranty like champs. I am not using right now so its not a huge deal tight now thankfully. I can't wait to use it again though.

the chrome has twice the penetration, as the bs 240w flowering, i have a 270watt chrome i keep it at about 30 inches, using the switch's when i am germing, i use two spot's, when they have grown enough to have a small canopy, about when you would be sexing regular seed's i switch to four spot's, and when she start's to flower, i go to six spot's. i have had one crop from seed to weed. and a batch of baby dragon's under her right now!
the chrome build's thicker denser secondary bud's under the canopy with it's superior penetration.:2cents: it is more comprable to the gn six spot than the bs 240wuv model. but if you have very little money, and a small grow area, it is hard to beat the blackstar flowering model's!! i have three of those, two 240uv and one 135w uv model. :peace:

hey astro, any chance I could borrow your light for a bit brother?

Alright my fellow BS gurus. Got mine ordered (BS 240W) should be expecting it in a few days:dance2::dance2::dance2::dance2:switching from hps to LED. Had a few questions until I read the whole thread, now that I have my height figured out for all stages of growth, (thanks to lovely folks:hug:), I havent seen much about nutes with BS. I have been reading a bit, and see that during veg the plants seem to need more calmg and N. Is there any tips I could get before my ladies go under the BS, in reference to more feeding or whatever I may expect with LED and nutes. Will watering become more frequent.

Is it also cool, if I switch out the hps with the led while I have plants in flower in there, that shouldnt cause any problems should it. Thanks for any input folks:peace:

Looking forward to seeing what this light will do. Stay lifted my AFN fam:group:

as far as i know auto's under led use more nute's. when my plant's are full grow, they take a gallon of nute's every three day's in a four gallon pot, i get about 10% run off until they have maxed out in size, when they are at maximum size, they drink the whole gallon! the last three times i waterd the
nl/bb with plain wellwater (so far three time's) first two time's no runoff, the last time, more than 10% runoff, that's telling me they are done! they have started to reduce there uptake. the second question i dont have any knowledge about. switching from mh/hps to led?:shrug:i never used streetlight's.:D i think your using airpot's if that is the case, they will demand feeding more often. how many plant's are you going to grow under the new bs? by itself it can only handle two big plant,s or three smaller plant's. are you going to supplement with cfl's? it is a cheap addition to a grow, add's lumen's and heat. anyway this is how i do it brother!:buds: now is the time to start saving for the next bs240.:2cents::group:

A second will be nice. What I plan on doing in my 2ftx2ftx4ft tent is a perpetual type deal, would like to have four in there at different stages, in 2 gallon pots, (non airpots) airpots are next on my shopping list,. I already have 7 26W CFLS, in there to compliment the 150 W hps. Different spectrums betwenn 65s and 27s.

cool!:cool:with all the cfl's that will be a nice tent! a little lst may be necessery for four plant's? it take's time and money to set up properly, time i have money i dont! so a little at a time. that bs will be the nut's in a small tent.:dance:it's taken me two year's to get all my gear in place for a perpetual grow that will handle three to four plant's icould not do it without cfl's!!! they make a tremendous difference. cheap lumen's where you need them!:buds:

Cool man. I'm excited for your light to come. New hardware always brightens my day... especially when its an led.

I have had a chrome 270w now for 2+ months and I love it. great growth, low heat, so I just ordered two more: 1 chrome 270w and a chrome 180w.

I was thinking since I just bought it of returning it in exchange for a Chrome. I'm not liking this one at all. Myabe its to powerful for my enviroment.
How much does the 270w raise your ambient temps? Right now with a 6" Can Can on lowest setting with controller half exhaust I keep 64-75 degrees. Just with the fan on full exhuast I can drop that to 64-69 easy. Thats with the heat on in my house! lol

I just talked to Gothem, going to do a full exchange for the 270 Model.
Great customer service from those guys.
Hopefully I'll hve less problems with the newer models.
