Hey AFN!

I just bought me a BlueLab pH pen, and I was watching videos of how to start using one.

At the end of their (BlueLab) official video, the spokesperson said never to use, nor store in distilled water.

If that's the case, am I only allowed to use tap water?

How do you guys and girls use your pH meters?

A simple guide would be very helpful. Thanks a bunch for reading.

I have a bluelab PH pen and it is great.
I only use storage solution in the cap but I do use it to PH distilled water about once every two weeks.
Seems to work just fine.

I have a few more questions if you do not mind answering.

Did you place the pH pen into their solution for 24 hours prior to use?

When you use your pen, is that distilled water only? Or is that mixed with nutrients as well?

Ducky sometimes the meter is not stored properly or is dry at the time of purchase. The 24 hours is for re-hydration of the ph pen's business end.

When you use any meter for distilled water it has a hard time setting the ph because it is neutral. Once cal/mg is added it has some alkalinity and can be adjusted up or down and usually the nutes can be added then re-ph'ed. Both RO and distilled water have little to no conductivity until some minerals are added--before ph'ing.

With Blue Meters they insist on only using tap water to clean and dip in between checking the ph. In a squeeze "tap water" can be used to store and re-hydrate. For some reason the distilled water is a no no for "storage or re-hydrating."

I think I will follow BlueLab's process from their official video to begin using the pH pen, and use tap water for both watering and feeding the plants.

I use distilled only but I don't PH it until after adding everything.
Even in the beginning when I'm not adding nutrients, I'm still adding cal-mag for the essentials.
