I used these pots along side my airpots. Airpots can be hard to find in North America but not impossible. So I took a shot on these pots called herculese. They come in all different sizes The one thing I noticed is the 20 litier herculese pot is shorter and larger around the top airpots are tubular in design. The reason I am posting this ifs for people who do not want to pay the price of airpots in North America or cannot find them. They work just as good as a airpot IMO

You are right there they do drop a little more soil then the airpots. But the price is good and I handle them gently and once they settle in they do not drop as much. I am glad they are working out for you my man

I had my finger on the trigger on regular airpots, when I finally found an online source here in Canada for them at HomeGrown Hydro. The only thing that stopped me was price(I mean do I really want to spend almost $100 on 4 pots...hell that's almost another light!), so I decided to go out on a limb and make my own airpots...not quite as good as the real deal, but total cost was $0.00, and they are working pretty well. Practically no mess, and minimal drainage out the side holes.(DIY Tutorial soon)

I say you have a winner on your hands in the DIY scene. Air getting to the rootball the roots will self prune when they hit the holes stopping the swirling effect of the rootball great work MATE.

a friend of mine just gave me some of these Hercules pots of all different sizes , most of them are the same as in your picture
but the 12 size one's have open root pruning base where as the others don't. I'll upload a picture if I could work out how to do it
