Hi guys, I wonder if anyone can assist here?.. I am on week 3 and the plats are approximately 6 inches tall and in 11 litre pots with soil. I have noticed that a couple of bottom leaves have turned completely pale yellow, the temperature at the moment is around 85, is this due to heat or lack of nutes in soil? many thanks in advance for any contribution.:tiphat:

Hi Warrior

Sorry to hit questions with more questions, but

  • what soil are you in,
  • what have you fed them so far,
  • and what is your soil PH (have you done a run off test (noting ph in and ph out?)
A picture would help, but sounds like possibly underfed or a PH problem!

Those answers will help either me or others get to the bottom of your leaf problem ^_^

:smokebuds:It would help to have a picture.Maybe your talking about the first seed leaf that turning yellow.I would try and get the temp down a little closer to 80.There to young to have a nute defficience so it's not that.

Just another thought - have you been leaving your water to 'gas off' (as in stand without a lid on to dechlorinate for 24hours) - as i said, just a thought! (it used to mess me up)

Thanks for your replies guys and Blue yes I have been leaving the water for a couple of days in an open top container I always let it rest , also the soil I am using is being recycled it does contain pearlite and was canna professional soil the leaves that have been turning yellow are at the lower part of the plant it isn't the first seed leaf maybe they need a good feed? the food I use is Dutch Pro A + B

I admit, i know little to nothing about this dude, but from what i've read, which obviously could be wrong, it could be down to nutes, heat, soil or water ph, humidity or even just the plants maturing... so pic it up and im sure someone can fully help, personally i wouldnt put it on the heat though, ive been running my grow at 80-90degrees and they are a lovely green colour, had a few light yellow leaves appearing but they were just a bit thirsty it seemed. and on the recycled part, recycled from previous grow? seen sometimes if soil isnt recycled properly it could affect it, and if YOU recycled it from a previous grow, is it gonna have any nutrients in the soil at all? could be it, just flinging ideas and probably aint helping much lol

are you feeding them and from when?

Thanks and I am leaning towards lack of nutes so I will get a pic later and post it cheers for your input

I have been experiencing this on one of my plants, they have been turning light green and the bottom most ones have been progressing towards yellow. I have no experience growing before now, so take my advice with a grain of salt (or less, lol).

I have heard nitrogen deficiency progresses from the bottom leaves first, and works its way up the plant. If they had been gradually turning from healthy, to light green, to yellow, it is possible that it is a nitrogen deficiency. I am also in week 3, and I think that nitrogen deficiency makes sense since the plants have been going through a growth spurt lately, they probably need more nitrogen for vegitative growth.

If your using recycled soil than it could be low on nitrogen.Give them some nitrogen and see if it helps.

Hi Namvet many thanks for that, I have given them a good feed of Dutch Pro A + B assuming that this has Nitrogen in the mix? do you think I should add something else?
