Ive never suffered from bud rot before
My room is always clean and I keep naturally low humidity due to 4 lights and roaring fans.
30 - 35% is average. Now and again I see 40% if everything gets a huge watering or doing a mid grow flush.
Thats not high, right?

So tell me why does it happen?
Ive never peeled back a huge cola before tonight.
I dont know why I did it, for some reason I walked past this huge central cola and had a poke and look inside.

HORROR was before me!
Yea Ive read this before a thousand times from other growers.
I just thought in the past, perhaps there a bit messy and let things get grubby.
Perhaps they dont run such good fans or what ever.

I have a room full to bursting, its day 70 on the weekend for some lucky ladies (alas not all).
These two show stopping BOM winning plants have been slashed before they could run free.
Stopped before they even started.

Its a crime I tell you !!!
Can we have a moments silence please everyone.
To understand would perhaps help me with the long road ahead.

I feel for ya friend .. don't know much about yer setup, but have found a small fan blowing on the dense parts could help with top cola mold. sometimes we have fans blowing all around, but none on the dense bud of the plant letting the humidity to get in deep.
Just a thought ...

Below 40% should be fine for late flowering. When there is a really dense area though, they can still have enough internal moisture to rot. I don't have a good solution for you.

Some people will go in and dig through their dense colas to make sure nothing is starting and to allow those portions to breath.

Air flow is of course crucial; early preventative measures help (sprays), and filtering your air intake with a HEPA filter also keeps spores out.

Best of luck on your next go sorry about mold that crap sucks!

:peace:

What I've realised the last few months is it doesn't matter how low RH u have inside if it's above 50% outside spores are everywhere and everytime u open the gro room door spores get in there.

Yea i read it's like impossible to completely rid your space from all the spores since there like everywhere but I think other than control the rh having having a ton of air movement is crucial I been worried about getting it so ive been leaving my tent door open and just have a large fan blowing on the hardest setting at the top where the colas are

Although I have an intake that blows some air over the canopy whenever they're on lights off and I have to close it I just put my 30 pint dehumidifier right outside the tent and hope the rh stays low haha I find it hard to get fans to go on the tent poles since the tent wraps around so tight if that makes sense lol

Thanks Driftin :)
Ive got 2 floor fans and 2 oscilating fans on a stand.
I move them around the room every day, so each day blows a different way.

Thanks T :)

Thanks Mr Tang, is this not where an ozone generator would come in handy? Perhaps just for a short period while lights out ?

Yes mate Im upping my game with more fans and 2 dehumidifiers for lights off.
Im taking the fight to this rot, first line of defence is attack right :)

I posted this article yesterday and found it quite interesting - Prevention and Treatment of Bud Mold & Fusarium

https://www.autoflower.org/f90/prevention-treatment-bud-mold-fusarium-36795.html

Top man Arty for the link, very interesting to get a decent view of the entire problem here.
Cheers dude

Great ... I have 3 in my little tent, one continually on the 2 plants i have growing ... my humidity stays around 50% but with the air flow I haven't had mold issues and well hope I don't in the future. lol

*bump

Sadness again here... Nasty bud rot just kicked me square in the nuts.
Just lost 3 big massive cola's to rot and plenty more buds close by.

When I started this thread I was lucky as only had the makings of rot in a couple of plants.
This time Ive got it all over the shop.
Gutted !!!!!!!!!!

But more than that feeling pretty helpless.
Im not hearing any foolproof methods of avoiding this in the future.
I cant go on with this problem... There must be a solution.

AFN whats the solution?
Whats going to stop this from happening again?
Tears for bed tonight... out :(
