The next question I have is how much pot do you want.
A rough rule of thumb is 50 watts/sq foot. I've used both less and more, it's
not cast in stone.
You can grow a bunch of plants in that space, and it will grow a lot of pot.
But you will need a bunch of light.
T5 suggests you want to control costs, so if you want do it on the cheap, here is my 2 cents on the subject.
Start with one plant, it's easier, and the mistakes we all make won't hurt as much.
With one plant, you can use adjustable hangers and keep the light hovering a few inches
above the plant. A couple hundred watts will do the trick.
If you want do a couple plants, consider using about 600 watts. If you want to use the
whole space, double that figure.
There are other options, you can keep the plants short so the light doesn't need to penetrate,
and use a bunch of small pots for the small plants.
Have you thought about ventilation, and is controlling the smell
something you will need to do?
