Maria's sub-tropical grow adventures

Of course it varies. This year not much, yet, 4-5". some years over 2' by now. Generally though, early winter not much snow as the cold is settling in. By the end of next month usually lots. By the end of winter the snow in the woods where it's wind protected 3 to 5'. The drifts around cabin and trailing towards the riparian woods grow to 16 to 20' before winter calls it quits.

Wah! Intense, very intense. Can barely get my head around that, haha!

Hey there GH! Thanks for the love bombs.
Your pics remind me of my 2024 season 'ganja privacy hedge', hehe.
Help me dig in a few sacks of compost, will ya?! 😆

A week out of the ground, with some pretty terrible weather, here we are.
Unfortunately lost two, not sure if due to bugs, the heavy rain or the winds this week.

There's a little bit of growth, at least the first true leaves are now larger than the cotyledons... things are usually slow at this stage anyway, let alone this weather.

Pairs top and bottom of the same cultivar, left to right:
2 x ACE, Zamaldelica reg
1 x ACE, Auto Malawi x NL5 fem
1 x Scott Family Farms, Pure Love #8 reg
2 x Royal Queen, Auto Amnesia fem

And I still have that other last surviving Haze (MadMac x Tom Hill/Posi) reg as well.

Gives me 4 x photo regs and 3 x auto fems right now.

Was thinking about dropping some more beans to make up for the two lost plants.
But not sure if I want to drop an ACE Auto Malawi x NL5 in this season, but may drop another Pure Love #8. Still thinking about it.

Weather is a bit better now, temps back up to 20C, little to no rain or wind, though still pretty cloudy.
Next week should see some sun and warmer temps, very good.
I figure if I can keep them alive until they have the second or third set of true leaves,
then they will do much better with the plant out to Garden Two.
(Need a new name instead of 'Garden Two'!)
And I'll also need to get those autos out soon, as their timer is already counting,
and it would be best for the photos, two.

Wish us luck and good fortune!

Love and hugs,
~MJS

Vape and joints, and make edibles, how we consume up here. That's a cheery bong, I would happily suck on that
Ah, yes, edibles!
Haven't had any of those for a while.
Last time was some THC/CBD gummies I got in SF to add some entertainment to a long flight.

Hello Kitty BONG! :smokeout:

BOING!

Wish this was my bong, haha.
I literally keep two bongs stashed in secret smoking locations.
Location one is the Smoker's Lounge.
It's one of the abandoned apartments near my own grow site.
Location two is literally in the forest.
In both locations the bongs are those ones that you screw into a regular plastic bottle.
The bong tops and bottles are maintained to literally look like trash,
in case anyone stumbles upon them.
It's ugly, but: security is number one.

Bong House Rules:
Finish the whole cone yourself, reload and pass for the next person.

Can't stand those movies and stuff where someone takes a few hits, and passes,
and the next person is like sucking in that getting-stale air while they spark already burnt flower....
Pack what you can finish, only.

Damn it'd be cool to have a real in-person sesh with my AFN crew.
I'll bring sativa and snacks.

Have you considered portable dry herb vaporizers, which likely reduce smell by >95% or even totally? Plus no matches or lighters needed, no light given off, no fire hazard, vapor is less thick/noticeable vs. smoke, there would be no/negligible recognizable breath odor or on your clothes (compared to smoking; seems something that could easily get you busted), vaporizer safely fits in pocket (even when fully hot), smaller vs. bong, etc. As concerned as you are about security (not getting busted), you definitely shouldn't be smoking smelly bong hits that need a lighter. You could even vape in your home vs. needing to travel to remote locations.

There are some good affordable small handheld units. There are a good number, particularly if things such as stems/mouthpieces are not kept installed, that look very much like most any other handheld electronic device that few would ever identify as a drug paraphernalia, particularly police not themselves users. For ex., any of the Arizer Air model bases or most other handheld simple black tubular-shaped units would fit in with other small electronic devices, tools, etc., and are even less recognizable if disasembled. I will drive across the US in several months and plan to use my Arizer Air Max (e.g., see https://tvape.com/arizer-air-max-vaporizer.html), keeping it in a box on the back seat floor along with other small electronic devices, tools, etc. These units require battery recharging, which with removable batteries (e.g., as with Air models) you can innocently charge at home.

Great read, im rooting for your seedlings! Im kickin back and happily waiting for updates. :smokeit:

Happy grows friend, Im gonna go read a bunch of your journals as I am also going to be growing in tropical climate soon.

Cheers :pass:
Cool, welcome along.
The journals in my signature line are all from about the same latitude and climate, but at a few different locations.
The 'Tropical outdoor' and 'Mandala safari' grows at the bottom of the signature list are more high mountain, extremely wet and humid.
The other outdoor ones are just very wet and humid, haha.

Sativas are what you need, really, if you have high humidity.
And figuring out what season works for you, avoiding heavy rains / monsoons / hurricanes / typhoons / cyclones during late flowering.
