Hi All.... If you didn't already know, I'm growing Star-Ryder, AutoXtreme and Think Different by DP (outdoor uk grow).

My questions is...... I purchased some Canna Boost and pk 13/14 a while back, but not sure when's the best time to start using them and also when to stop using them etc.

Can anyone help? :help:

Thanks in advance!

Hey man, if you go on the Canna website they have feeding schedules for the different ranges and water hardness, you should be able to find out what you need there :peace:

http://www.canna-uk.com/growguide This one? ^_^

The guide is for photoperiod, so the timescale can be pretty much ignored. I start using PK13/14 when the buds are mainly developed but skinny - when they are almost joined up on the stems, but not fattened.

The PK13/14 will fatten them up.

Don't go in too heavy - at least half of the canna guide to start.

I Stop using it 2 weeks before harvest - about the same time i start my final cleanse.

Cheers Blue! Exactly what I was after! Nice one!

They seem to be going great, and the weather atm here in Uk is probably the sunniest summer we've had in a decade or more! (so probably about average sun for other countries! lol.) But couldn't have asked for a better 5 week start for them. :-)

Will post an update on them on the weekend if anyone's interested......?

Thanks again!

I am a first time autoflower grower with experience only from regular strains. I have just some days ago germinated tao mix seeds from Top Tao (for trial and error). The main goal is to do some cross breeding with a more expensive vertigo, but I must be certain in the first place that I am able to keep my plants alive. Therefore I need to make sure my first test plants will survive for at least some weeks, and hopefully not only survive but also make great results.

For this occation i am planning on using the soil nutes from Canna. This includes terra vega, terra flores, rhizotonic, cannazym, cannaboost and PK13/14. I will also use an amino accid supplement from Bio Green. As for the apetite of autos, I will of course be gently and use only a fraction of the nutrition amount that regular strains require.

If someone in this thread has done a good run with great results while using Canna nutes, I will be very happy to read more details about your feeding schedule (and maybe some photos?) when it's clearly that the normal feeding schedule from canna can't be used in the same way for autos as for regular photoperiod strains.

Hi @kakefar - I've used a full canna nute lineup previously and continue to use most of them.

Here's my thoughts:

- The base nutes (Canna Vega & Canna Flores) will be good.

- Rhizotonic fish mix - will be good too.

- Cannazyme: I'm a little "neither here nor there" about it. I've used it throughout a grow and got good results - and gone without it and had good results. I think on a photoperiod you'll get more benefit from it as the root system will get bigger and its basically converting dead roots to food. So typically i do without it.

- Canna Boost- It's a must for me! pricey but good.

- Canna PK 13/14. .... about 1% of growers i've seen know how to use this properly. I binned mine out of frustration. Recommend changing it up for Dutch Pro Explode (a PK and Flowering booster). The usage is far more simple - use it whenever you use boost at half the strength of the boost. (eg 10ml boost = 5ml explode)

I'm a coco grower so measure EC values rather than ml per litre. If Vega and Flores are organic (not sure - sorry) then an EC meter wont help you .

I'd start off at 1/4 strenth of the canna guide and build up to 1/2 strength after a few weeks.

Thank you very much for your quick response @blue . This was very informative, and also actually kind of the same thoughts I had on the subject. But as far as my experience as an autoflower grower (zero), I always check with other more experienced growers than my self. And this was the only thread I could find that seemed to deal with canna nutes. With a few exeptions, Canna has been my favorite nutrition so far. As you mentioned, the booster is expensive, but it works very well. I am growing a lot of sour haze just now and they are 6 weeks into the flowering stage now. They are starting to get fat and frosty now. With the canna lineup, the results has been very good every time with sour haze and I always try to find new ways to improve the yield in quality and size.

But let's stick to the autos, for my part this is brand new and unexplored water. Do you have a personal preference for how to germinate auto seeds? Can you give me your point of view on this idea:

Let's say I use riot root cubes, moisted in PH-adjusted water+rhizotonic and putting the seed about one cm into the cube. The cube then goes into a pot filled with a mix of soil, perlite and vermiculite. Covering the cube so that you just can't see it, and then pulling a thin plastic film over the pot to create the greenhouse effect. Is this something that would make the seed germinate well and make the seedling survive? Should I add a drop or two of clonex in the plug? And should it be completly dark while the seed is germinating or is it ok to have e soft CFL-light right over the pots? For regular strains I use LED's through the whole life span of the plant.

Hi @kakefar, No worries ^_^

For germination i like the paper towel method.

I place one seed in the middle of one sheet of undyed kitchen towel.
I fold the left side so its over the top of and past the seed about an inch, then the right side the same (overlapping the left fold)

Then i fold in the top and bottom so i have a sealed kitchen towel parcel.

I then lightly damp the towel (putting it under the tap it too much - suggest putting your fingers under the tap and flicking water on it until it is "moist")

It then goes into a little ziplock back and sealled.

The little ziplock bag goes into a small box that i put ontop of a heat source (the sky box does it for me)

Leave it 2 days and then check for a tail.

If there's no tail, pop it back, spray the towel again, zip up the back, put back in the box and back on the heatshource for another 24 hours.

If there's a tail - get a pen and poke a hole in the top of the soil. I like to make it just deeper than the tail and seed casing.

Drop it in the hole, sprinkle some soil over the top, give it a Light spray and then turn on the lights.

Should be up in 2 - 3 days.

I use this method becuase i like to see things happening and am too impatient to wait 5-10 days as i used to dropping it straight into soil (which is the kindest way to do it - less possible stress on the bean)

I also use it becuase it works every time for me.

It's just my method - there's plenty of others that work great for people! :)

Hope this helps

Thanks @blue. I did already prepare my seeds for germination. Two seeds into riot root cubes that went straight into the soil. Wrapped platic film over the pot and will open for fresh air once a day. I also wanted to try this method https://www.autoflower.org/threads/germination-the-ronin-way.33891/ so I took 6 other seeds and put them into root riot cubes. Now I am hoping for the best :)

I'm going to take pictures along the way as the progress goes on.
