Hey muddy so week or so after startng this thread, after adding the lime the next feeding had runoff of around 6.4 which is great. Now though the sugar leaves on the buds started to twist and brown, after looking it up this can be caused by hi ph.
I can't test ph till my buffer arrives to calibrate pen, but when i added the lime i followed the box guide of a tbs per gallon and i am now thinking this was to much and has thrown the ph over where i want it. this is due to conflicting info again as i read no matter how much you add it will always buffer to 7 but i have since read you can add to much also if CTP has a certain percentage in already to get it to 6 then i shud only be adding a lil bit more right? or am i well off the mark again? dood this is confusing stuff i wish there was a definative guide some where
One tablespoon per gallon of soil mix is usually the recommended amount to add. I've only seen one or two rare cases where too much lime has raised the pH beyond the acceptable range. Even if it raises it a bit above the desired 6.4 - 6.5 range, you should still be fine. If you look at this chart you can see that most nutrients are still available to the plant at slightly higher pH levels.
