anything I can get my hands on!
Here is where I thought we could list the Dr's offices that you would recommend for someone to get their MMJ card or recommendation.

Canna Care Docs http://cannacaredocs.com/
I have been using them for a bit over one year and have had three visits with them. They are pretty good and seem to have their stuff together. I used the Worcester, MA office and have seen the same Dr twice now. The cost is $200.00 for an initial visit or renewal and $100.00 for the 6 month follow up. So, they would cost you $300.00 a year to use them.
I thought they were very thorough and are serious about their business.
I'll add more later, time for sleepy!

Canna Care Docs continued.

The office was clean and in the same place since I have been going to them, 15 months, so I think they are here to stay. The office is not quite what you would expect for a professional Dr.'s office but it is clean and functional.

What to expect:
When you walk in you receive a friendly greeting and they will ask you what you are there for. Then you get to fill out a mountain of paperwork as you would at any new physicians office.

When I finished my paperwork I was greeted by an enthusiastic young man. He spent about twenty minutes, took my vitals and then spoke with me going over the current laws, different types of canna, strains, effects, and the like. Talks about growing and services available for assisting your grow. Vaping VS smoking, edibles. All the stuff we know about but most folks probably don't. I appreciated this attention and his enthusiasm for all things canna. It was fun talking "shop" with him.

Be prepared with your medial history as it pertains to why you need the MMJ referral. For example I had my prescription drug list for the last three years. That was proof that I indeed suffered from what I claimed. I also was sure to have my medical history available if they asked for it. Then you will have an interview withe the Dr. Mine was quite thorough, he wanted to know why, did I currently use, what did I expect etc.

To summarize, they are a reasonably priced place to get your referral. They are doing things right and have state authorization to recommend so you will get your patient number to use to register with the state.

Here is a quick update. I have a flex plan through my employer. If you do not know what that is or perhaps you know it under a different name, it is where they take pre-tax dollars from you pay and put it into an account you can draw on for medical expenses. You can the draw funds from it to pay for medical costs, visits, prescriptions, dental work, all that kind of stuff. They are fairly strict regarding what they allow too. The beauty part is that it reduces your taxable income and you have a reserve of money when you need to pay for this stuff. I do the max of $2,500.00 / year for my family and figure it saves me about $5-600.00.
Anyways, the reason I mention this is that I used it to pay for my last visit and they accepted the charge and paid it. This means you can use your flex plan $$ !! W00t!

Thanks for this Wwwillie,

Don t get tons of responses, but it is really importants. It is an informational thread.

I am glad you have it. and after my next visit, I will post.

Great news on the flex spending stuff.

Yeah man I couldnt agree with you more. I have been a big fan of my Payflex account for almost 5 years.

Hey Eek,
You're welcome man. Ya I think it is very important to document this kind of thing. I am happy to share my experiences. Ghost, man I cannot tell you how many times the wife and I say out loud how valuable a tool the flex plan is to our families budget.

But does it pay cover filling the prescription, presumably the reason you go to such cannabis-prescribing physicians? Does it pay for your legal dispensary cannabis purchases?

I am almost 100% sure that it will not. They have gone out of their way to say it is a recommendation and not a prescription. Be nice though wouldn't it!

Is there anywhere, particularly in the U.S., where legalization at the state level includes cannabis insurance coverage like any other prescription drug?

Not that I know of. Federal and some State regulations still prohibit banks and credit card companies from dealing with canna dispensaries and it is still a cash business AFAIK. This is changing and we can hope that as more legitimacy comes to canna as a medicine and it is actually prescribed by a licensed authority then we can hope that it would become covered.

After all this is the reason I grow it myself. I grow for myself and another person. What would be cool in this situation is if my garden could be subsidised somehow. Tax credit, rebates, what have you. It will be some time before I recoup my investment; oh well, it's not about the money!
