Grow Room Carbon filter questions

Trying to figure out if i out the filter and fan inside the tent and ducting outside. Can i just let the ducting be in the room or do I have to vent it to an attic or out a window or something? And if i decided to have the filer and fan outside the tent, do I just have the ducting mounted to the top of the inside of the tent and the fan outside the tent pulls all the air? Any help..also this will just be a 4 inch set up. Thanks.

I run my filter/fan inside the tent with duct coming out the top of tent to the outside vent. Some do vent the duct back into their room. Just if you start smelling anything you'll need to replace your filter ASAP.

I have mine in same place top back since heat rises it’s the best location for it

I've had my fan and filter outside my tent for several years. My fan sits on the filter about 3-4 feet from tent. You need to crack a window for fresh air intake.
Use the port that is located at the top of tent or use the highest port on side wall for ducting out to fan/filter. Again, just be sure to crack a window.
Venting to attic one must be cognizant of mold possibilities.

Amazon product ASIN B0002YTL8QI've been using a 50 cfm bathroom exhaust fan on a thermostat set at 78 degrees for a 4x8x6' grow room in an unheated 12x20 shed. Running 2 1000w cobs and I need to watch the heat build up.
I cut a return vent with a grill that I can open and close as much as needed for fresh air in, and have a cheap digital portable heater to sit in front of the opening just in case to warm up any in flow.
I made my own in-line carbon filter (for pennies on the dollar vs the store bought ones) and have it outside the room venting into the shed. Winter here, and dry air all around, so the humidity from venting inside isn't an issue until summer. And because there's no kill like overkill I also cut a 4" round piece of carbon filter and placed that in-line coming out of the fan. I use an oscillating fan on a timer to keep the air moving inside.
I'd agree with the above to watch for mold when venting indoors, esp any attic or basement. If you're in the basement a dryer vent thru the wall may be the way to go.
