Lighting CFLS ....... we need some facts !!!

OK hears my problem iv been trying to figure out how much light I need and it looks like a lot of us have been . So what we need is some good info backed with facts.... first thing is when you pick out cfls do you go with the watts they equal or the watts they are .. mine say 23 watts but that they equal 100watts in filament bulb. Also iv read that watts don't count its the lumes that count ??? well witch is it and how much of ether do you need per sq foot . If the info is in hear I cant find it so if someone has it maybe we could get a sticky for it so people don't keep asking the same question over and over .

Hi Cidd ^_^

For CFLS you want to go for the actual wattage rather than the "equivalent"
For a nice size plant you'll probably want 150-200w (actual) of light.

You ideally want these to be a mix of 2700k (red) bulbs and 6500k (blue) spectrums.
For autos , i'd personally have more 2700k

If you are looking to save some money on energy and keep heat down, LED has come a long way and is worth looking at some of the more popular makes here. Not hugely explensive when you wiegh it all up ^_^

Effectively, but i notice you subscribed to AFN only very recently so perhaps you may not be aware of the fact that there's been some data loss a long while ago and hence quite a few threads won't show up in the search engine anymore: as a result i'd strongly suggest Google to find those instead...

Lumen output is important no matter what light you use bro.:stylez rasta smoke: Led,Hps,Cfl ect whatever you use that is a big factor in your final product. There is NO "1" main factor with lighting it all comes into play. i use led and cfl beause i feel its a good mix of lighting. another thing you want to learn is PAR. Wattage pr sq foot, PAR, and Lumens are what you want to know. for cfls you want about 100w per plant alittle more if you want rock hard dense buds. For par and Lumens i dont know exactly what you need maybe someone can chime in on that. The closer you can get to 45,000 lum the better of course there is alot of people not even close to that and having great grows you need no figure out your space size, pot size, and how big you want the plants to get before deciding on a light my brother:smokebuds:
