yeah I don't know the 3500k seem fine in veg considering the lower 430ishNm are close to the maximum absorption rate anyway. Almost seems the opposite but I need to do a control to factor out human error.

I'm going to try to hammer the crap out of the reds to see if there is any difference. Wonder if autos need less blue? Just another experiment. there's a noticeable difference in bud density with my kinds k5 which are like 75% Red diodes. Don't know if it's because it's 1000 W or human error but I gotta find out lol. My cobs are 3500k/4000k.

It matches the efficiency of 1000w of incandescent light bulbs if it's a 1000w replacement. 167 par watts is like 300w of cobs, your doing it with 750 watts of epistar. I'll delete this later cause I know I'm gonna get in trouble. :face:

I'm not debating it but the curve surely shows the 4000k to be a much better temp. Out with the charts and in with the grow reports.

I like that idea. I might just get a bunch of Cobbs at like 2700 K just to see what happens
 
oh don't get me wrong, I see that too. Just doesn't seem to be a real world difference. Need to look see if anyone actual the time to really take at least a science like approach. I'd be curious to see the results. Myself, I'd buy either based on availability.

You know what I just checked my K5 hack and 6 out of the 10 cobs are 4000 K which definitely fall short in flower. That might explain some things. So I just bought 6 3500k 90cri. We'll see if it makes a difference. Thank God I wrote it down on the heat sink because it all looks the same when you're staring at it LOL.
 
Thank you for the help everyone. Now I just have to find some heat sinks in stock and I will be good to go. Looking to do 12 1212s at 38 watts to get me about 400 for my 4x4.

Sometimes I buy really cheap LED fixtures strictly for the heat sink and the fans. However 12 is a different story LOL good luck and let me know what you find because I can always use an extra heat sink.
