The last Coast of Maine Stonington Soil test I saw was pretty high in N. I'd be cautious about adding more unless you're seeing a deficiency or have another soil test to go off of. Much easier to add more than deal with an excess.
Hey Frank,
I am going to start a grow just after Christmas using the Stonington Blend and following their recommendation to add bone meal after 30 days of growth. I have tried blending my own using Roots Organics and supplementing with KIS nutrient pack but something didn’t go right and I am in the middle of my worst grow since I started this great hobby! I know this thread is very old but I was hoping you had given the Stonington Blend a go and could offer an opinion as too it’s worth. Thanks Brudder
Can I ask for what went wrong with the current grow? Any photos?
I've seen issues with the main stalk staying small like you are saying from to high of N in the seedling and early veg stage....If I remember right, I had a black stone in coast of maine do that to me. Main stalk was smaller than a pencil....I started referring to it as "bud on stick" lolI wish I knew! I have been so disgusted with it that I have not taken any pictures; however, six of the plants never reached 12” in height and the main stalk remained very small so, as they put on weight from flowers they just fell over, I did prop them up in hopes that something would start happening. I’ve never experienced anything like this and I am trying to figure it out so I don’t repeat this nightmare. Thanks for inquiring.

Thanks, I’ll give you a call before I try it again, appreciate the input. If you decide to try the Nutrient Pack again, please shoot me an email so I can help troubleshoot. We want everyone to have positive results with our soils and nutrient mixes.
One thing to consider that is different with organics is watering. With living soils, you'll want to keep the soil evenly moist vs the wet/dry cycles I see with hydro or chemical grows.
Hope that helps!
