Alright guys looks like I finally found my spot. (Growing in coco) Here's my story. I'm a brand newbie. Never grew anything in my life. Just got started. Germinated and planted but I was just reading something about using plain purified water with coco and it being bad. I did use Mephisto's super soil as directed (someone told me it was similar to kind soil). I also did not PH my water for the first initial soil watering I believe it was around 7.5 when I finally got a PH meter. A day later I do have a sprout. I lightly watered again with purified water and 2ml of cal mag plus (per gal) . I did PH the water this time to around 5.58.

Here is what I'm working with.
3 x 3 x 6 tent.
(1) Marshydro reflector series 144 - & timer - 1st grow so I wanted to keep it kinda small

Mephisto genetics - White Stomper, Heisenhound & Skysenberg

Soil mix - Pro HP Coco w/microrizae, Perlite, earthworm castings & Mephisto Super soil mix

5 gal air pots

Ventilation - 6" hyperfan with 6" black ops carbon filter. Filter not installed yet. Waiting for flower.

PH & PPM Tester - just picked these up.

temp & humidity gauge

I was originally going to go Regular seeds feminized but choose to go autoflower for the first grow. Most of my research was done on photo period plants... any help or suggestions to get my PH in order before this seedling starts to seriously go into Veg. Mode would be greatly appreciated.

How much is the soil to coco ratio?
If growing in coco i just keep it simple and ph to 6.0 whole grow. The buffers in the coco do the rest of the work.
If its more soil than coco the ph needs to be a little higher

Seconded, this will be an important parameter of your grow. From the moment you mix coco with soil and organic amendments you essentially go from an inert substrate to a living one. You'll have to adapt your feeding/watering accordingly. Since you have microbiological life in your media, pH is somewhat less of a concern, stay around 6.5 and you should be fine.
Regarding purified water, it is true that using plain low ec water in coco is quite bad, but since you have soil and ewc in the mix it could be ok, again, depending on the coco/soil ratio (as long as it doesn't mess up the ion/cation exchange in the substrate).
Will you use fertilizers during the grow, if yes, what kind?

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. @JDoe & @sanguine

I am just using plain pro-hp coco with @mephisto genetics super soil additive fertilizer. Yesterday I added a half of gallon of 6.0 PH'd RO water with 2ml of calmag plus.

Ok, got it. I am not familiar with mephisto supersoil so I assumed it was a soil mix but I see it actually is an amendment. So you are growing in coco with organic amendments. I would treat it more or less like soil then, wet/dry cycles, pH around 6.5 but you should wait for advice from people whit experience using mephisto super soil additive in coco for details as I never actually used that stuff.
Good luck with your first grow.

Greetings! Wondering how your "super coco" using the MG amendments went? I'm planning to use the mix with coco coir soon.
