so i misjudged amounts and ordered too little soil. i got some coco blocks in the same order and was thinking now of mixing them into some biobizz all mix with some perlite and maybe some multipurpose peat reduced(50% peat) compost i have to make up a soil mix instead of the plain biobizz light mix i was going to use. are there any issues i dont know about coco/soil mixes?

was gonna rinse it with phd water around 6.5 but maybe im mixing up rockwool with coco.

any info would be appreciated, i want to get some seeds planted soon as possible as ive been delayed a while already waiting for deliveries.

cheers!

mixing some up now ayway
1/4 all mix
1/4 perlite
1/4 coco block
1/4 multi compost
and some garden lime as the multipurpose is around 5.6.

any obvious problems with this?
ill be using chemical ferts

Seems like a good plan to me...the coir might need some buffering with lime and epsom salts later in the grow....but apart from that, it's an excellent medium to grow in....and suits chem ferts to a Tee :D

im not sure if its coir it says
The B'cuzz B'ounce is a pressed substrate existing of a mixture of coconut, consisting of coconut grit, coconut fibre and pieces of coconut. All the ingredients are buffered and rinsed, so that the B'ounce can be considered a pure substrate. The coarser pieces of coconut also ensure good drainage. The finer pieces of coconut (the fibres and the grit) on the other hand, act as a sponge and retain the moisture longer, so enough (nutrition) water is left behind in the substrate for the plants.
unless coir is that just i assumed it was only the fibres/hairy bits.
all mixed anyway so well see. cheers for the reassurance.
ive added a tbs of lime per gallon as seems to be the norm and i have epsom if needed later.

lime WILL need a 'burn in' time to break down and be ready for absorption....it will increase temps in the medium for a week or so, so planting directly into a 'hot' mix might not be good...
Try an experiment...put 1/2 a cup of lime in a container and add some water....give it a little time and check the temp.....you will find it has heated up some...
