Thought Id share this new product,' Ecothrive charge coco' I'm a week into a grow with it so little early to tell but so far so good, its about the same price as canna coco bags so thought would give this stuff a go after using their tea and beatle poo stuff on my chillis.
the EC is 0.6 so that should be about perfect for seedling right? Maybe cheaper alternatives but its not too much and I like the idea that theres a little something organic in there for the roots. t

Was just wondering what people thought about mixing non organics such as advanced nutients or canna A/B in with organics in coco? I had read somewhere once that chemicals would kill the organic stuff off or that you should just use coco straight..but the guys who make this seem to know their stuff.. The exact science of it may go over my head but I would love to learn!
Think there is an american product very similar called 'charge' that does the same sort of thing..

The minerals used in what people call chemical fertilizers are the same minerals used in organic fertilizers. The difference with Organics is they include food for the beneficial microbes and sometimes the beneficial microbes themselves. Those microbes help the plant utilize the minerals the best, supposedly. I guess it really depends on the state of the minerals in your nutrient line in the first place.

Hi Jingo, thanks for your reply!
I have done some more reading up apperently this is the special bit
'However, Ecothrive Charge has another special and quite unique benefit for plants. It contains derivatives of chitin, a modified polysaccharide found in large concentrations in the cell walls of insects. Plants detect the presence of these polysaccharides and are “tricked” into thinking an attack is imminent. Consequently their in-built resistance to pests and disease is triggered and growth rates, productivity and immune response are all boosted significantly. Lastly, Ecothrive Charge is 100% Organic, and is certified and has full approval for use by the Soil Association which is not an easy certificate to obtain.'

Wow that stuff looks so good I was already to recommend it to the cannazone for testing. Unfortunately, when I looked up their website it's gone down and I wonder if they're still in business. It sounds great, I'm going to look around for anything like that over here in the states.

When animal eats plant, animals doesn't inject chitin into plant, because animals are made of chitin (exoskeleton). So plant cannot see/feel/uptake chitin from them.
Chitin is found mainly in shellfishs, cancers (or how you say) and other shellfishes. Do you ever see shellfish eating cannabis?:biggrin:
A lot of bro-science here.

Btw, we (humans) use chitin from chitosan... for blocking fats so they left body undisgested.

Hey @d.t I have been using the ecothrive for about 5-6 months now and found it to be good stuff, I recently grew a blue toof (Mephisto) with it and had a happy harvest,:headbang: I used the base nutrients as well but it is one part and I think it's a bit nitro heavy for bloom imo, really dark plants, but all in all I am happy with it:pass:

Hey again @d.t I forgot to mention that I let my water sit for at least 24hrs to evaporate the chlorine, as I think this will harm the micro in there, the big dog @budelee told me a bubbler helps this to happen quickerly(?):toke: hats off to the big dawg :toke: woooot wooooot:pass::crying:
