Indoor Conv. Wine Cabinet - A Different (?) Approach

**SSSSSNNNNNIIIIIIIIFFFFFFFFF**

Whoa this guys ass smells horrible LOOK OUT!!! :crying:

Very nice cab. You could also consider a small T5 fluorescent as it might do you a little better than CFLs but not need as much head room as an LED. Can light get in the bottom drain? If so you'd need to stick to autos. I'd love to hear about how you reduced noise on your fans that is great info for anyone!

I really like the Solar Flare and its probably in my future as is a hydro scrog.

I stayed away from hydro because I know I will make mistakes and soil, as a moderator, is more forgiving and mistakes are (probably) easier to recover from.

I really want to gain experience with a "natural" grow so I can see how plants develop. Right now, natural does not mean organic. This too is probably in the future.

Baby steps...

Bayes, I think you are going about things the correct way. You will learn so much from the first grow and you can put that into practise for subsequent grows. Keep it simple and take notes. Improve and learn each time.
Guys here can answer all your questions as you grow along the path of enlightenment.

Torched-

Here's what I did for sound dampening-

The fan enclosure is made out of 12" diameter SonoTube, normally used for pouring foundation footers. It is lined on the inside with 1/4" Dynaliner. The end caps are made out of 1/2" MDF with two two layers of 1/4" Dynaliner on each. The vortex 4" fan sits inside, with the flanges gasketed against the end caps with 1/4" neoprene. The assembly sits on the shelf but is cushioned by 1/4" neoprene. The side wall near the filter has Dynaliner on it. The exhaust from the Phresh sound muffler (pretty good, btw) is gasketed where it exits the cabinet. The duct has Dynaliner on the exterior. (I could not use the better/quieter insulated duct due to a larger bending radius than the stuff I used.

There is little or no audible fan noise. There is noise from the exhaust but this is air movement noise. There is filter noise but its fairly benign.

I am sitting in my office 4' away from my cabinet and it is no louder than it was when it a real wine cabinet. I had a meeting in my office today and my client didn't even mention it, although the fan was not running full out.

Why take baby steps when you can moonwalk though. Imma go out on a limb and say you're a fairly intelligent being... You should jump right into recirculating deep water culture. Do your thang though. Just saying I got faiths in you. Good luck bud.

Off topic:

If you are into making things or mechanical electrical things or ever wondered "where can I get that?", light up a bone and go to www.mcmasters.com.
You might get lost in exploring all the neat stuff they carry

They also carry ballasts, bulbs, pulleys, sheet metal, which may be of interest. Don't know if their prices are good or not but over the years I've done a lot of business with them and have been always satisfied.
