So yesterday I was listening to a podcast with 2 growers, clackmus coot and kisorganics. During the interview coot bought up the topic of worm farming and had some different ideas on the topic compared to the general textbook approach of veggiescaps and browns. Coot went on to say that adding adding a suplement of malted barley into the bedding increased worm size by 20 +% in commercial setup with manure as food And on top of that adding in kelp meal, comfrey, aflala and neem cake also have a great impact from his observations.

I'm going to slowly add these onto one of my worm bins and see how they go, I have read from reddit by a user following this advice killed the worms but I think it's a matter of dose and not giving 2 much.

Anyone else using these ingridants in there worms bins or any other "worm roids" you like to use ?

:thanks::toke::cheers::vibe:

An observation from my worm bin is that the worms eat the blended up comfrey at an amazing rate compared to the veggie scape and thermophilic compost I put in.

What I have fed into my worm bins [ soil ] so far , -- Dried horse manure -- Cannabis plant trim -- Banana peel -- Banana stem -- Composted leaf litter -- Water melon peel -- Liquid seaweed -- Bat guano [ powdered ] -- Fish hydrolysate -- Humic acid -- Fulic acid -- Sea minerals -- Lime -- Sulfur -- Insect frass -- Phosphate solubilizing bacteria -- I use a big white bin with holes in the bottom for drainage for soil I want to use for next grows , I also have 2 starter bins , again soil based , When I water the soil I never water to run off , or try not to . No less the 3 months is the age of the soil before planted in . I lean to the belief giving time to the soil balances the system . :thumbsup:

What species of worms do you have in your collection hecno ? I saw you had some huge Funkey looking ones. Atm I got a mix from bunnings which included some nightcrawlers, red wigglers and tiger worms. I also got some cod worms from the garden that I added into the bin. I read on a worm farm website that different species work faster at different temperatures. Plus think its cool they all hangout together haha.
