Hi there, just joined the site and on my third grow ever :)

I've had two grows so far, 1st was a scrog of Power Africa Auto and Nl Auto and managed 9oz of lovely bud first grow.

2nd grow I bought 2 non auto clones to scrog and one was a dwarf(root damage inside the rockwool) and the other gave a couple of oz's. The grow itself was incredibly boring with a 12/12 cycle and bloody annoying using twice the electric my lights do to heat the tent in the dark!

So now I'm firmly back on autos and I'm trying just the one plant this time. It's from Herbies, Cream of the Crop Cash Crop.

Propogated for a couple of weeks in a DWC stealth PC case I built under a 15w LED Red/Blue/White spotlight.

Now it's in a 75cmx75cmx150cm tent in a GT205 NFT hydro tank.

The lights are a Vipar V240 and a V300 angled to provide crossing beams on a 20/4 schedule.

The spotlamp is the same as the one I propogated with and is on 24 hours a day. It's providing heat when the panels are off but I've also found its great for some very low stress training, the plant grows towards it so I'm moving it around with surprising results.

The original idea was to try a vertical scrog this time with just one plant but I've taken the net out and am just using the frame as an anchor point for more vigorous training once the stretch gets into full swing. The main reason for trying this is that I've found the plant to the rear of the tent is awesome but the second plant closer to the front has struggled to compete in my first two grows.

The tent is steady at 28c and is ventilated by one 100mm fan at half speed through a carbon filter. Intake is passive through lower vents.

Nutes are;

from seed PlantMagic+ MagneCal+ and will continue getting it until flush cos it's fricking awesome!
From two weeks I've been gradually adding Vitalink Max Grow A&B starting off at 0.1ml/l rising to the current .3ml/l. I won't go any higher than 0.5ml/l since the plants seem to hate it. EC is currently 1.0.

Once it starts flowering I'll switch to Vitalink Max Bloom A&B at 0.5ml/l or until the EC is around 1.2

2 weeks into flower and I get to add my magic smell maker, Buddha's Tree PK 9/18, boy does that stuff make the smell/resin/frosting soar!

I'll still keep the EC around 1.2/1.4 with Vitalink Bloom.

I'll be using Vitalink Flush for the last week.

Through out the grow I cycle the Ph level from 5.2ish(hint of red test) to 6.0ish(hint of green), seems to help it get all the different nutes up.

Other than all that I've posted a few pics below of the setup and the plant from day 16 to today, day 28. There's been a scary amount of sudden growth in the past 4 days but the pic from day 21 is just there because it looks cool lol!

Anyway, all comments welcome, advice gratefully received, peace! :peace:

Supercropped!

So after the big burst in growth the lady started flowering, very early signs but nonetheless it was time to change the nutes over to bloom yesterday evening. Quick sponge out of the last of the water and she's on the bloom regime.

Yesterday

Anyway, I had a good look underneath and found a lot of popcorn bud sites withering and the plant overall felt like it was struggling so I took the decision to supercrop her now and let her breath a bit better ready to throw all she has at getting the big juicy buds going :)

Yesterday after crop.
She's looking very bedraggled and not so healthy straight after the crop, which kind of made me feel better about doing it but of course I was still in that "OMG what have I done" frame of mind I get when I crop! Notice the bit I left on in the lower right of the pic, that's the sort of thing I took off as well as the big shading fan leaves.

This morning I'm very relieved to find a lovely healthy looking plant back again!

12 hours later!
I've cropped 4 plants now(I've only grown 5 lol) but they all react really well when I do. I seem to get the best results doing a 80% defoliation around the flowering point then just keep her lightly trimmed until harvest.

I'm no botanist, I've helped out on quite a few HPS grows before and I'm becoming more convinced that LED grown plants need a bit of help managing their foliage.

I can only speculate that it's due to the lack of stretching with LED's during the veg period, combined with their great vegging ability, that results in a very short plant with super dense foliage. This then brings into play one of the downsides of led's, the lack of penetration of some bandwidths of the lights.
Logically I want the main bud sites to be the priority and I need to judge carefully at this stage which of the lesser bud sites are going to be able to stretch enough over the next few weeks to make them worth keeping on. That's the main reason I'm getting a 5w COB panel for top lighting and dropping the two current panels down to be crossed over side lighting.

I'll post a few more pics each day this week whatever she ends up looking like and fingers crossed I'm right! Peace :peace:

Hey man, just noticed you switched to bloom nutrients when you noticed pre flowers ? Should have stuck it out to all vertical growth had stopped.. then move to bloom nutrients.

People think once pre flowers show its time for bloom its only once the growth has stopped. Other than that keep doing what your doing!

Peace

Now that I did not know! Thanks!
I'm going on the nute regime for Buddha's Tree PK9/18 which is started 2 weeks from the first signs of flowering.

Saying that I completely f**ked up on my first grow and used bloom nutes for the whole grow lol!

No problem man, how did your yield be affected ?

Somehow I managed 5oz off the NL auto and 4 off the Power Africa Auto, I had plenty of lumens with the 300w Red cfl but overall true watts were only around 210w hence the second panel and the third one is getting ordered for the next grow in September!

Loving the new growth!

24hrs ago. This morning.

Finding that tank temps getting too high 24/25c so adding ph'd ice cubes every 6 hours is keeping it between 19c and 21c. I put them into a small plastic food container full of holes to avoid the ice floating down and causing freeze damage to the roots in the reservoir.

Still going strong. First plant in my vast growing experience (5 plants so far rofl) that hasn't shown even a small sign of shock after being defoliated, not complaining!

Second pic you can just see her wearing her first jewelry, they grow up so fast :) I'm just using a few non toxic fishing weights to keep a couple of the main shoots down a bit lower and guide them towards the space at the front of the tent.
I've got a new flowering spotlamp arriving today, can't put another panel in with ambient exterior temps this high so I thought this sounded cool to add a little bit of wattage and to train the plant a bit. It's a 126 pc Epistar 15w so not very powerful but it can't hurt to zap it with more reds and a little bit of blue :P
