Could any body help? Not quite sure what's going on.

Great advice coming through ;) had a few issues with trying to rotate the photos! Thanks for that Mikey. I have just changed the light to 400w, sticking with MH at the moment. Then when flowering starts gonna run a 600w HPS. Using a 6" cooltube to help regulate temperatures a bit better. I'm using biobizz light mix soil so there's no extra nutrients in the soil. I've been using advanced nutrients, sensi grow at the moment at just 1/4 strength.

marty ;)

Unless your HPS bulb has an expanded blue spectrum you're better off using the MH for veg.

Yes, no amendments in Biobizz Lite so not over fed. I assume those are the AN pH Perfect nutes? If so, just make sure the starting ppm of your base water plus cal/mag doesn't exceed their recommended 100 - 125 ppm.

Yea the 400w im running is MH, got the 600 HPS for flowering. Yea they're the PH perfect nutes, my PH meter has started acting up giving a few radical readings, tried changing battery but to no avail so waiting on new one arriving.
Ive noticed another big of a problem, there is some green spotting on one of the leaves on the AU and some of the leaves are going a bit pale on the TD.

Since ce I haven't watered they do seem to have perked up though ;)

That plant is getting pale because you definitely have PH problems. Hope you get your meter real soon! I ruined 7 plants not long ago with a bum PH meter.

IMO biobizz and AN dont go together i asked biobizz about using AN in biobizz soil and they said don't:Sharing One::peace:SJ

I know others have had a lot of success with the pH Perfect nutes but I'm not one of them. I'm tried them twice in soil less media and once in hydro and each time the results have been poor. I was warned not to use them in my RDWC system but had already purchased them so went ahead and gave them a try. Could not get the pH to stabilize and the plants really suffered, to the point I switched nutes mid grow. In soil less, both Pro Mix HP, pH of 7, and Bonnie Professional Potting Mix, pH of 6.7, they pushed to pH so low, down to 5.6 - 5.8, that the plants exhibited classic nute lockout symptoms. This was using RO water and enough cal/mag to raise the starting ppm to their recommended level. IMO, they are more trouble than they are worth. For as long as it takes to test and adjust the feed pH, I prefer to go that route so I have control and know exactly where I'm at. Biobizz Lite is also a soil less mix so it wouldn't surprise me if the results are similar as with the Pro Mix and the Bonnie soil less media.

Thanks for the info. PH meter is due for delivery today so hopefully o can get these problems sorted. How would I go about changing the PH of my soil, if it's too acidic if I water with slightly alkaline water will it even its self out? Obviously will be checking the run off. Will I have to flush first to try and reset the PH. Also when flushing will I be able to use water that hasn't sat for 24h, as I'm just using tap water. Then water with water that has sat?

Marty.

I wouldn't suggest doing anything until you get the new meter and check the run off pH. About the only way to raise the soil pH is by adding dolomite lime. Flushing with pH balanced water might help but if the AN nutes are going low, which I suspect, it will keep pushing it low.

Right ph meter arrived, seem to have it all sorted, ph of water going in with butrients 6.5, run off 6.1-6.2 between the plants, so things seem to be back on track ;) think I have a bit of a Mg def in the think different so adding some Epsom salts to the feed. They're starting to get quite thirsty now though. How high would you usually have lights at this point? under a 400w MH, running through a cooltube.

Who knew growing could be so stressful at times!!!

Marty, here's a little chart to help you with HPS/MH light distances:

MH_Light_Distance_Chart.jpg

For a 400W; 18 inches is a good benchmark. A great test is to hold out your hand flat and place it over the very top of your tallest plant so that the back of your hand is up facing the light. Hold it there for 15 seconds. If it's too warm or uncomfortable for your hands, it's too warm for the plant. If you want to better visualize this; place the back of your hand 12 inches under your cool tube and move it down in 2 inch increments. You'll quickly notice how the heat intensity changes.

You can raise or lower the light in accordance to how the plants are reacting. If they start wildly stretching, lower the light. If they start crisping up on top; you've got it too close. Hopefully you can use these guidelines to help you find "the sweet spot" and correlate how the heat intensity effects the plant growth.

Let us know if you have any more questions bud!
