Harvest & Curing Curing question!

Then everything will be just fine and you will soon experience some magic of proper curing.

What is RH in the jar? Any idea? How do you control and estimate it?

Buds normally loose smell after some days of drying so that one can hardy recognize his weed any more. Then, around three weeks from cutting, smell is starting to recover in jar, but this time it is different as it was, because we smell different gases as before. I dry, burp, cure slowly, under strict humidity control and after 1 month, buds are hardly ready to smoke. Better wait some more time, two weeks maybe. After 1 month, smell in jar must be noticable, otherwise there would perhaps never be any.

I use hygrolids on my jars. The RH is now at 65%. I'm just gonna keep them closed for now and burp every week.

That will be just fine. I think that you have nothing to be worried about.

It is only a little bit frustrating when all the smell disappears in a couple of days of drying and until you get through some times, it is hard to believe how curing works.

I invested in a hygrometer. About $20. Stuck it in the jar, it was to moist so left it dry for another day. Helped me feel that I was doing it right...
thinking about getting one of those myself, as they are a very handy tool for knowing when to burp your jars.

what's a hydrogometer? What is used for?

I been growing on and off for a long long time. Never had a need for a PH meter or a Hydrogometer.

But I came from a different school. It is like comparing typewriters to computers. If you don't keep up with the current technology, you get left in the dust. I am sure because of this, I dont' yeild like other peeps yeild, but I am happy with my results. The flavors I get are out of this world.

I would never advise peeps not to use the most updated information and tools at their disposal.

However, there is something to a holistic type growing. Be one with the plants, environment and ourselves. Learning the plant by feel. Knowing what it needs by looking and smelling, feeling it's texture, and judging the structure. And feeding it healthy natural foods.

Kinda like us ay? lol.

To get the best cure I can, here is what I do. Hang it till the leaves are crunchy but the bud is still damp. About four days. Trim, chop and cut, put the nugs on something paper, dry until it feels dry outside, soft and sticky inside. Maybe 24 hours give or take a few hours. Into the jar. check the next day, it should be little damp. Take it out of the jar for about 6 hours (assuming regular household temps), when it feels dry again, back in the jar. After a few days, while decreasing the time intervals that the bud spends outside the jar, it should stay dry enough. check everyday until you get it the way you want. Usually after all that, it takes about 2-3 weeks for the good taste and smell.

Remember, if you are not taking it out of the jar, or if you are burping, then you have to move the buds around so they don't stick to each other, creating a place for mildew to grow. I just use a long stem or something.

Some strains are shorter curing, some take longer, just get to know what you grow.

My two cents.

:Sharing One:

Peace
