New Grower Day in the Life of a Stunted Auto

Day #23

6th node is out. New leaves are looking a little wilted and leaves are a bit droopy. I have been messing with my lights and wondering if I'm over/under powered. Not sure why she slow. I shot her with my IR camera to see if I was burning her. All seem well and good. I'm going to buy a real PAR meter to rule that out. I'm a tools guy and a believer that the correct tool makes life soooo much easier.

Day #33

She's looking nice. She finally has some noticable inner grow of the branches. 7th and 8th nodes have formed. I read to top at the 7th node but I'm not sure I want to. I topped my last plant and didnt have much luck. I'm guessing it was more of me screwing something up verses the topping process.

Day #35

I decided to just low stress train this one. I only have a smallish tent and I'm not sure how big this thing can get. I just tied some rope to the stem and tied her down to a stake.

On second thought, I'm just going to top her. I'll try to listen to the plant a little better this time so I have faith.

Day #37

Bounced back nicely from the topping adventure and I started to try and some LST to try get her spread out before going up. She just seams a bit slow but I guess still on track with my last grow. Not a very high bar to surpass. I'm going to turn the Veg and Bloom lights on to see if she can use the extra light now.

Day #39

So I noticed some little brown spots on some of the older fan leaves. I'll have to keep an eye on it. I hope I'm not burning them with light. I noticed some of the leaves stems have turned bright red. I'm sure this isn't a good sign. I'll move the lights up a bit just in case.

Day #43

The spots have turned brown and blotchy and appear to be affecting the older fan leaves. This same thing happened on my first grow so I really need to figure out whats going on. My last girl just shriveled up and was crispy.

I was playing around with my PAR meter. It's a Quantum PAR meter. It cost a couple bucks but I just need to figure out what going on. Plus im a tools and gadgets guy. At about 24" from from the top of the canopy.
Veg = 316
Bloom = 503
Both = 849

After even more research and watching a few videos from Dr. Bruce Bugbee (genius) I found out that under the correct environmental conditions, you pretty much cant have too much light. So that means, both veg and bloom lights are going on

Day #45

The dark spots and discoloration is getting worse. So after posting in the infirmary part of the forum I realized I had more questions that i needed to answer. First and foremost, what is my pH? So I went to my local shop and picked up a Bluelabs pH pen. I had a cheapo one I bought earlier but I must have knocked it because it wasnt reading. I figured, how bad can I be because i use rain water. After some direction on nutrients from ManOGreen here on the forum, I realized that the my rain water was at 6.2 and plants in soil like a pH of 6.5 +- .2 so I was just out of the optimal nutrient utilization zone.

Day #48

So I noticed that my leaves are curling and twisting. After some reading I found that the environmental within your grow space can have huge impacts on the health of your plants. Thats when found the VPD chart that someone here posted (probably ManOGreen again). Turns out my temp and rH have been all over the place and outside the recommended zones. I added a mini humidifier and a mini dehumidifier. Both programmable so I'm able to set a range and the two systems equalize the tent.
