I have only decarbed raw buds, straight from the plant, the reason is that I'm always in lack of weed so I don't have the time to dry it before use.
I throw it in the oven and decarbe it 110 minutes at 110C or 60 minutes at 115C

My question is, are there any benefits in drying the cannabis before decarbing or is raw just as good as dry?

Taste- and smell-wise, particularly if smoked rather than vaped, raw quickly-dried material will be nastier. The raw material will have a lot of chlorophyll and other non-degraded substances, including all the proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, cellulose, cellular organelles, etc. in the just-killed plant cells. With drying over days, varying portions of this unwanted stuff breaks down with some of the by-products evaporating (a reason to burp containers while drying and curing).

I favor decarbing, if needed, after drying. Otherwise, maybe decard but don't let it dry all that much, such as keep a cover on it; and then dry it over at least a few days.

I prefer all my Eddie's made with green. I trim before I dry and it goes straight into freezer. The taste is way different. It's just my personal preference. But it's totally why I do it. I don't have a lot of problems with chlorophyll but I decarb for an hour in pressure cooker then add lectin and oil for 40 mins back in pressure cooker. I don't let it set super long. If it is 2 green it will taste bad so I stick it in the sun for an hour or so. They say it degrades it but I can't tell a difference in an hour. Turns all that green to Brown. Nother thing that helps my oil is I rinse it 3 or 4 times with water then then get it close to freezing and run it threw a 25 micron filter.

I cut the bud and put it in oldschool canning jar, put the jar in a pressure cooker and decarb herb. I don't see a reason to remove clorophyll cause I eat other green vegetables. If there is something nasty in the plant I want to know what it is and how to remove it in the best possible way. If something is nasty or even dangerous that are to be removed I guess it's a terpene and they are volatile. Terpenes are overrated, I smoke banana peel for the lemon effect.
