Growing 3 different strains. All with the same soilless medium and bio bizz grow and fish mix. The ladies have been loving life but now showing a defency. I want to get it right so advice would be appreciated. Mild purple on the stems. Some rust spots on lower leaves and then pale on new growth.

1. Octopussy. Nearly 5 weeks. Just moved to 1ml grow and 1ml fishmix per litre every 2-3 days.
2. Sour alien diesel. Nearly 4 weeks. 0.5ml grow one feed then 1ml fishmin the next. 2-3 days.
3. Easy ryder. Nearly 4 weeks. 0.5ml grow and 0.5ml Fishmix per litre. 1ml in total.

Been adding amino mix and microbes as we go. I also use worm tea. P.h of nutrients solution is never over 6.0 and below 5.5. Growing under two 600w led's and one 180w 2700k CFL. 25 degrees room temp and 50% humidity.

Hey there!

They look great! :D ... I can't see any real signs of Def .. although as you say it's the lower leaves!

Pleants look great - i'd keep doing what you're doing.
The paler look on the new growth coming out the top is completely normal, it'll darken as it grows.

I'd be pleased as punch with them! :D

Yellow appearing in that manner is a sign of iron defiency. Iron is absorbed in soilless medium between 5.5. to 6.5 range so the pH should be good for it. Are you using RO water and if you are, are you using any CalMag -supplementation? I am just a hydroguy but I hear that sometimes too much watering and problems with the roots can cause iron defiency symptoms too.

But like @blue pointed out, most of the time new growth can appear pale at first too so perhaps it may be too early to hop into conclusions?

@blue and @MedGrower thank you so much for the speedy reply and compliments. I will take pics when I get home tonight. I did feed them this morning and I apologize for the pics if they are bit hard to see.

I use purified water with trace elements. No chlorine or fluorine - my worry with biobizz is the trace elements. I have quite a nice wet to dry period and I am very afraid of over feeding so I've been gentle.

Im really enjoying all this knowledge and experience.

Thanks again guys, I will post more pics later

Oh yeah! I see what you mean Boem!

:help: ..... I'm out of my depth!! @Waira ... what's that nasty stuff in pic 4??

Some of it could be where the leaves have hit the soil and rested there ... maybe? .. But i don't know what that ugly stuff is!

I'd wait for waira ... could be bugs!

On the plus side the rest looks good! :D

That yellowing of the young leaves at the top is what concerns me. Weirds me out too that in a way it seems from the first pictures as if it would be iron deciency but the other pictures reminds me of symptoms of zinc defiency. I think it would already be somewhat normal to have the very lower leaves develop something like we can observe from the pictures as the upper foliage starts to dominate so much and the old leaves just dies out. That I would think is normal and nothing to be concerned about, unless you start to see similar symptoms spreading ever more. That clearly isn't the case here so I'd rest easy. I'd take the bad lower leaves out so they won't harbor pathogens and disease there.

I agree with @blue here. You would be in better hands with @Waira on this one. I cannot give you a definate answer on this one even though I would diagnose this as zinc defiency. To sum it up, these plants look really nice and I don't think you should be too conserned over it. Lets just wait for better eyes on this one

Thank you so much for your reply! I'm totally new to this so I appreciate it.

A experience grower has told me that they are going into preflower and that's why this is happening. So I'm gradually going to introduce bloom nutes but I'm going to get everything out their growth.

I will watch it closely and it doesn't seem to be getting worse. Did my scheduled flush and she is looking happier this morning.

Much love
