Hello and welcome to my grow log. This is my first grow so I'm putting it in the new growers forum. Right to business, the set up is 3*2*5 foot tent Chepo from the amazon, 400w "ipower" HID in a cool tube,"can max speed 6" fan with a HTG carbon scubber. I am using FF OF with 25% Perlite and FF trio nutes. 3 Dutch passion StarRyder sown direct to 3 gal grow bags.

Day 0;
Filled bags watered till run off and turned on the light and fan then just left it sit running for 3 days to watch temps tinker with fan speed ect..

Day 1;
I forgot to take pics :cuss: but my little girls showed in 36 hours or so and shed there helmets the next day.
Day 5;
I had sprayed the soil every night to keep them moist but had not watered them yet.

I had been running the MH bulb at 75% but after reading Hazy's log I turned it up to 100%. Still just water.

That brings every one up to date and I do have a question. Should I switch to HPS now? I would like to thank the whole of the AFN community for giving me the knowledge and confidants to start this rewarding new hobby. I would like to give shout outs to Rebel and Hazy especially for taking the time to respond to my PMs:thumbs:

hey dff, lookin good bro! sounds like you've done yer home work man...glad to have a aboard!:toke:

i like to wait on switching to hps til the vertical growth stops and that signifies full bloom...time ti switch nutes and bulbs...

see ya next update:smokebuds:

Great start DFF .. When do you plan to start feeding bloom nutes ?
I was thinking when the little bud sites started to look more like flowers maybe Day 30ish. Super glad to see you here your girls are NICE! :bow:

when vertical growth stop, she will be in full bloom...i wouldn't switch to bloom nute until then...use a tape measure to keep a record of height...

Day 25

So Day 25 there doing well but still short. Tall girl is 27 cm gave them 30 ml of big bloom and 30 ml of grow big per gal on day 24 watered till run off.

Plants look in top health and they will gain height don't you worry. :thumbs: For what it's worth, here's my experience ...switch 10 days after showing sex.. you can't stop a plant growing vertically by feeding bloom nutes... come look at my SR's i'm growing now, on bloom nutes since day 28, tallest now standing ay 92cm that's almost 2x what they should be on average. if you want your plants to finish on time ..i.e 70-75 days don't wait till vertical growths stops .. who knows when they'll finish and at 20hrs per day of light, it's a lot of money.. if i had to wait 100+ days for an auto ..i'd go back to growing photos. Those plants will be what their genetics say they will be , all we can really do is encourage the flowering process. Go take a look at any of Seymour Buds grows and you'll find that this is what he does on most of his grows.

and to the question at hand when to use your light. Use it from day 1. I start all mine from day 1 under 600w HPS and they love it.

Good luck :smokebuds:

never said nothing about stopping vertical growth w/ bloom nutes. what i did say is that when vertical growth stops that is when to give bloom nutes. this is what i was taught by one of the best teachers on the internet...25days old, your rite in the middle of veg bro...you wouldn't give bloom nutes to a photo in veg.
