I just realized I forgot to make my weekly update on Saturday again!
So its been about 7 days since the flip to flower and the girls are stretching like crazy. The Slurricane #7 has grown at least 4 inches in the past week. Before the flip they were about 1ft plus a bit more from the light and today they were about 2-3 inches from touching the light. The Forbidden Jelly isnt stretching as much but its growing at a consistent rate compared to her tent mate. Relatively the same height in comparison. I might have to put her on a stand so she gets even ppfd. Because right now she's about 6in shorter.
With that said I have raised the light to the top of the tent, and bumped the power up to 80%. May be a week or 2 too early to bump it up but Im trying to control the stretch as much as possible on the Slurricane, she's definitely stretching pretty close to a half inch per day right now. 3 weeks of that will have her needing supercropping and I really haven't done much supercropping. I know its nothing to be scared of and it may actually make the plant respond positively to that kind of stress, but its a, I dont want to if I cant prevent it, kind of situation.
Heres some pics, with them getting as big as they are now Ive kiddy cornered the plants in the opposite corners of eachother. Slurricane is still on the right, but now in back and Forbidden Jelly is in the front on the left.
Ive also been doing a shit ton of research on bioactive living soils and I think that Im going to pull the plug in October and buy the build a soil take and bake artisan soil building kit. Yes its 600 bucks but as far as I can see it will be worth the investment. It makes 70 gallons of soil that is basically good for a lifetime of use comes with a 100 fabric bag to do the mixing in, cover crop straw, organic inputs, and compost. You name it its there. Its a water only recipe and as far as I can tell besides adding some organic inputs every now and again to feed the biology in the soil you really dont have to do anything but keep it moist. I know its gonna take some practice to get it working right but I think after this grow Im gonna ditch the individual bags and get a custom grassroots living soil bed that will fit perfectly inside my tent. Their current bed that fits a 3x3 is exactly 3ft on both sides and my tent is only 35.5x35.5 so custom bed figure 34x34x1ft. I dont need the extra half foot in height. But that will be about 60-65 cubic feet of soil. So it will take almost the whole take and bake kit.
Thats all for today. Thanks for stopping by.
