I am new to growing I built a grow box 2 foot by 2 foot by 5 foot tall. I have three intake fans 1 large outake fanwith a carbon filter I thought I had a good setup with the light I first tried which was a 250 watt high pressure sodium/metal highlight switchable ballast.with a six inch cooltube that has a 240 CFM fan connected and vented out. Even 50% power and at 32 inches above plants this light totally fried my first plants 20.so I decide go with the 180 watt Blackstar Chrome led.I am wondering if anyone can tell me that since I put my grow box in my closet so basically it's a box in a box I'm worried I can't get enough co2 to the plants. Any advice? And is anybody have any experience with this Blackstar Chrome LED light thank you

That hps should not have caused all that... when it comes down to it. What ventilation set up? how many cfm?

///// I read it again but what were the temps, did you overfeed? you should have been ok with that when it comes right down to it

Just have one main out take and pssive intake. Your intake fans could be reducing air flow. The one 240cfm fan should turn over all the air in your box about 12 times a mintue. Plenty of ventalation. You can get a 1000 w HPS closer than 32 inches a 250 should be pretty minimal. I think we need more info. Got any pics of your set up? How old were the plants that got fried?

I have three intake fans that I bought from Radio Shack for a computer. One very large outtake fan probably twice the size of intake. Plus I have a small fan in there. I did not start growing with the HPS first I started with the middle highlights the temperature in the box with the metal halide was an average of 90 degrees on 50 %power on ballast.I have plenty of pictures of what it look like with the Cool Tube in the middle highlighted and since I've gotten rid of that I have pictures of my black star led which I hooked up last night nm still running a temperature of 82 degrees in chamber. Could the problem be that it is basically a box with in a box. The grow box is almost the exact size of the closet so I don't think I'm recycling fresh air I think a recycling old.if the problem is that I'm not getting any fresh air in the closet what can I do because I have 3 children and I cannot leave this grow out in the open but I have sunk so much money into building this I can't give up.now I have also hey 90 degree elbow 4 inches that hooks into my carbon filter that has the 240 CFM fan. But since I have no plans in there I am running a dry run and don't have the charcoal filter hooked up but do have the fan running and I cannot figure out why this $320 led still keeping temp at a constant 82

I posted pics. They were just seedlings and 99% of them died after sprouting 2 of them lived to grow about a foot and a half tall and then turned yellow and died.was using seedling soil from a local store I just bought happy frog from Fox Farm and the new to go with it which I don't know how to use either

Nice set up. Yes your problem is you are recycling air.

You'll really have two options a hole through the roof or a hole through the floor. To the attic is usually the easiest and most discrete. Then you'd have to just vent hot air out there.

I use a tent with booster fans in both intake and exhaust, and my tent is in my closet. I give the closet a 30 minute air out twice a day to replenish the air in the closet and have had no issues. The key is for your intake to be low and your exhaust to be high to make sure you're getting the hottest air out and the coolest air in. Other than that the plants themselves would benefit from some direct air from a fan, I can't tell from your picture what you have.

Thanks. That was what I came up with a hole thru floor ceiling. I have crawl space so today I gna see if I can cut 4" hole in floor my box is on casters so was going to roll box so hole in floor is even with center of floor in box. Then was thinking of putting a nice strong fan mounted on floor of box. Think this will do it? I have a extra inline duct fan if you think that would work better.thanks for help

82 degrees is not great but you should be able to grow in those temps. I would use a bigger intake fans and yes cut a hole to get as much fresh air as possible

I had a 600W hps right over my last plant, also in a wooden cab, with a single 120mm PC fan for intake and another for extraction set at max, along with a bigger fan blowing directly on the HPS.

You need to make sure you ventilation is working correctly without gaps in your cab, you should have the intake at the very bottom, and the extractor all the way at the top. You should also have some fans blowing over your plants so they do not get blasted with heat from the light.

The light u have at the moment will work for a small plant or two, i'd advise to stick to one plant and to train it rather than growing 4, as it will be alot of maintenance and none of them will grow to their full potential, rather than one strong plant with rock hard buds!

Here is a pic of my old setup, temps were at about 25-26C
