So from what I gather you put your finger in the soil up to the first knuckle (approx. 1 In), placed the germinated seed in the hole and covered it up.
OK so here's my opinion...
I usually plant the seed 1/4" to 1/2" under the top of the soil and just lightly sprinkle soil over the seed. To answer your question, yes you may have planted it a tad bit deep but no worries. Just take a tooth pick and very very easily move the top of the soil back to find the seed. Once you find it, do NOT disturb it!! Lightly sprinkle a little bit of soil back over the seed and give it a little water. "My 2 cents"
Also, another helpful tip is to cut a water bottle in half and use the cap end as a little humidity dome! I've used this method for a while and had great results!! :Sharing One:
