Hiya,

My seed co said to use distilled water to germinate the seeds in the paper towel trick.

Was wondering if distilled water was more beneficial / safer for seedlings after they are put in the soil.

????

If so, when should I stop using it exclusively?

Thankya

I have used aged tap water and distilled water, doesn't seem to make a difference. So I just use tap water now, my local tap is 7.5ph.

Can you elaborate on what is considered "aged" tap water?
Do you pour it in a 5 gallon bucket to sit and settle or what??

I use 2 litre coke bottles. Fill them up, leave the top off and let sit for 24 hours, the small amount of chlorine will then burn off. I use the bottles for mixing my nutrients but a bucket works too. Some people use bubblers as well but if you let it stand is good enough.

I "age" and "oxygenate" my tap water. I use a couple of gallon jugs, fill up with tap water. I have an air pump with dual outputs and an airstone on each. I leave airstone in each for 24 hours or more, when needed, grab 1 gallon and replace with a 2nd.
Oxygenated water can have a big impact on growth, since I started using the O water, root development has increased dramatically. 24 hours evaporates any chlorine elements.

Does the water need to be constantly oxygenated after initial 24 hours?
Say - I've got seedlings only needing a little out of a 5 gal bucket.
Keep the bubbler running??

Always, keep bubbling till used. I usually have other gallon jugs ready to fill in. However i do mix that gallon with nutes into smaller 16 oz bottles which i store on a labeled shelf.
It may make more sense in that I have a perpetual grow going, so there are always 4-6 plants in the tent, and generally all at different stages in their cycles.
If I have 3 plants in full flower mode, i easily can go through 2-3 gallons a day. I generally feed my plants 2-3 times daily.
If they are flowering, they sux it down like no tomorrow.
I generally detail all this in my journals., if u need to read up more on it
Hope this helps.

That is all I use on my seedlings even though it is 0 ppm I believe , it usually does me just right I believe if it already had a lot of anything in it my ppm runoff would be thru the roof due to my medium so I believe in certain circumstances it can be great in my case my women love it
