Lighting DIY 3120 led lumen- opinions

This is the one I built and use. Its 8 E27 light sockets. currently it has eight, 15 watt LED spotlight bulbs in it. it has a mix of Red/Blue and Warm White bulbs. It works and works well. The second pic is a plant, at 10 days old, I recently sprouted under that light: So yes, a DIY light can work and work well. and for say a micro grow, would be good. For a larger area, I'll say again, its not worth the effort. LED growlight makers have engineered the lights for optimum footprint, etc. We can certainly make a light that works, we will NOT make one that works better without spending 3 times as much money and way to much time. The key to a good DIY project is it has to fill a need, and it has to be worth the effort!

I'm currently using 8 15watt rated Red/Blue LED spotlights.Actual draw is 70 watts. Lumens? I don'ty know and don't care, its a useless measurement with LEDs. What I can tell you is I grew 2 plants to completion under them and got 31 grams from plants I kept to 10" tall!

when using LED you measure the light reaching the plant in uMol/m2

You don't seem to understand thew lighting. Here's a link to in depth info on LEDs and plant growth
