Hello again AFN, I just built a co2 generator out of a 3liter plastic jug and a small water bottle.I glued the h2o bottle on top and ran a surgical hose from the top(about 2ft.) I am planning to put this in a box 6ft.long 5ft.high and 4ft wide.On one end (bottom) i have a duct fan and on the other i have a scrubber(top).I dont run the intake fan because of the noise and I figured the scrubber fan would provide neg air and draw in from the vent.I smoke checked it and it does draw in but im not sure if this is enough air flow.....Im thinking of adding this co2 gen but im not sure if this will be enough or to little or just pointless because the scrubber is taking it out before it does any good....Any info on this would be appreciated. thanks!!

Controlling ventilation properly is one of the biggest issues when running CO2 and what can make it difficult to use in a small area. The large commercial growers use sophisticated, and expensive, environmental controlers that control their venting, A/C, humidity and CO2. Basically they shut off their exhaust fans, while they are adding in the CO2. Then they turn off the CO2, A/C and humidity controls while they vent. This of course then sucks out the CO2. So the cycle starts all over again. The most efficient way to use CO2 is in a closed environment. This requires having an A/C unit that is big enough to overcome the heat put out by the lights. Not practical for most small grows.

To get the most out of CO2 you need about 1,500 ppm in veg. Once in flowering the level gets slowly reduced until it's down to about 600 ppm in late flowering. Without a meter it will be impossible to tell how much your DIY generator is creating. I run a closed environment with CO2 in my hydro room. I don't bother in my two small auto spaces.
