Were just screw'n with ya.You can wait for a couple hours after lights on and this will be enough to let the sugar enxymes back up into the buds.

wow........I've read that during the dark period sugars and other shit are down in the roots and move their way up when the lights come on. Hence chopping while they're in the root will prevent these from being in the buds...not sure about this, thats why I asked. I'm new at this and would appreciate only helpful constructive answers. Thanks! :smoke:

I certain that dazed was just having fun as chopping in the dark paints quite a funny picture

You can chop them in the dark or the light, if they're ready it wont make a difference to the quality!

Like Wax says - some people do dark periods before the chop. I've tried 24 hour, 48 hour and Straight Chop. Thing is i only grow one plant at a time so couldn't say if there was any benefit (nothing to campare to!)

Hey MD/NC, a lot of growers chop after leaving the lights off for a day or more. The sugar migration in the root/phloem parts isn't going to have a drastic effect on the bud-I'd argue negligable, at best. If you want to "shock the resins into production overload", consider leaving the lights off the day before you chop. Those who do that say it ramps up a final resin production to sticky up the works. Hope that helps.

I do like to chop right before the lights come on, because I too have read a lot about the nutrients/sugars/salts? being lower in the dark. There's a lab study from somewhere, will see if I can find it.
Edit: Nah I was mixed up, was thinking of a different study on a different but related topic.
