New Grower Doctapurp's first grow: Purple Kush Auto

hey doctapurp!

great looking grow so far! you plants are look great for their age, nice colour and healthy!

as people have said before me, you will most likely need to have some cal/mag on hand. from what i have read it seems to be a common-ish problem. I had some calcium deficiency right around the same age your plant are now. so i bought some growteck calmax and added only 1ml per 1.5 litres or water (i water from bottles) and it fixed the problem straight away. but the affected leaves most likely wont recover so its good to catch it early.

you are looking for a rust coloured pigmentation on the leafs, and it commonly starts on the tips. (well it did for me anyway) i will attach some pictures.

i'm subbed an will be watching. i am thinking of getting some air-pots for next time so let me know how they go.

I'm definitely going to follow along here, PK does have a beautiful color and I would almost like to try it sometime, so I would love to see how this goes! BTW I have an advanced led the DS100. I love it so far. My AKR loves it too

Welcome MaryJaneAdvocate and trustfullytastybuds to my journal and thx for joining in! I'll most likly be getting cal mag + by botanicare very soon but what i would like to know is wouldn't epson salts w/ molasses due for now to supplement cal/mag? I think i read somewhere that they provide cal and mag. also Thx tastybuds for providing that pic to help identify one of the known probs i may encounter, but when i try to enlarge the pic it gives me a message stating i don't have permission and have to log in and try again even though i am loged in. Does this happen to anyone else? anyway to fix this?

I'd really like to see that and other pics(such as my own lol) more clearly and larger. : / As far as your ds100 its exactly what i am running myself and it is amazing this far. Might get my hands on a grow northern light next but it all depends on the results ill pull off my current light.

As a quick update today the soil seems to be dried out but not fully so ill hold off until tomorrow to feed again with more ph balanced water on my pk1. My lil pk2 doesn't seem to be dried out yet so it will prob get some water in a couple of days. More explosive growth by my pk#1 though and it is already starting on its next set of leaves. So excited Woops

Today was watering day and feed my pk1 with a lil less then half gallon of p.h. water @ 6.5 till i saw a little run off which ph'd at about 6.0. I moved my other pk under the led light also and hung my fluorescent light vertically near my pk 1 for supplement lightning. Now it looks like a Real ghetto DIY set up haha. I'll post pics soon

DoctaPurp I'm on my first grow, too. I've made some Noob mistakes but going to pull my girls through with the help of the good people here at AFN. I'll be keeping an eye on your journal. They are looking good.

Hey! DP. Yes you can certainly use Epsom salts and molasses and they will certainly provide the cal/mag the plants need. Sorry I don't have the details about just how, but I know it is done all the time. Me I like the convenience of the CaMg+ product I use and that by adding x amount I get y amount of solids and my pH moves by z amount every time I use it. Being the OCD, ADHD, alphabet soup guy I am, some consistency is a good thing!!

I actually just picked up the Botanicare Calmag+ a couple days ago and used it yesterday. Hopefully that gives them the boost they need so my pretty girls can stop with the spots and curling growth!! I wish'd I would have had some calmag on hand before I left for 6 days a couple weeks ago. But hey, I learned something new and now I know when to catch it. Just as long as us new growers learn every time we grow we will be okay

Sup all here is a quick update. I recently purchased cal mag+ by botanicare also and it should arrive in a few days, just in time for my next feed. As far as my girls go they are looking great. I have found no deficiencies on my pk auto as of yet(At least I don't think their is any) and all seems well with her.

As far as my other pk she seems to be growing extremely slow compared to my other one as she is on day 11 today and my pk1 is on day 20. Temps stay in the range of 75-82 with Rh anywhere from the high 30s to about 41. Here are some pics of my current girls and my set up now w/ the added fluorescent light.
