The thing is, for a single COB the "build it" part is pretty insignificant and doesn't really justify the extra costs for some Joey in China putting some parts together. I mean, it's not difficult, and given we live in an era of "flat pack everything" then even the most average Average Joe will have built something more complicated so that little bit of diy should be well within the capabilities of most.
I ain't saying it's a bad light, I just don't like people spending more than necessary and, in this case, the same or a little bit more could have two individual cobs, double the bang for the buck, especially as CF Grow have just taken their AliExpress listing and slapped an extra $10 on the price because it's on Amazon.
Oh, another advantage of not paying extra for the fancy box is cooling. How many people here regularly blast out the dust from their computer with Sprayduster, never mind strip down and clean out their grow light? Exactly, it doesn't happen so in time all sorts of particles gather on the fan and in the heatsink, which will lead to overheating and, in reality, I wouldn't be surprised if that's one of the biggest factors in people complaining that their lights are going "Fzzzt" after a year or two. So there's another reason why paying so much for the alleged convenience of such a pre-built cob is not something that is actually justifiable, not when you're looking at a single cob and not an array where you're talking about cutting and assembling a frame which is more than many are capable of doing.
