Live Stoner Chat Does bud development depend on light hitting fan leaves?

I've got a couple of plants that I did not top. Doing a little LST. The main kolas have fan leaves sticking out the side which are blocking light to some buds below. Was wondering if it would be good or bad to remove fan leaves that are part of a flower.

Or basically wondering if bud development is dependent on the leaves within the bud itself.

I'd like to get some insight on this too. I just remove them. Thought about it the same way you did. Decided that leaves are leaves and budsites more important. Thats how me simplify hard to understand stuff. Me....smart....[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Hello okay where are your plants at are they in flower yet or are you still in veg?
If you're in veg it makes no difference right now.

flower. thats what i was implying in my post but maybe wasnt clear on that. so what can u tell me about where or what part of the plant needs light during blooming flowers? is it the leaf or just the bud/tricomes? or both life leak during early to mid flower then bud after. or leaf all day long? or something else?

R u running autos? If u r than this may not apply.
What week of flower is your plant at?
From the main stem out bottum up to the top.
First week you can lollipop them. Taking the lower leaves and any small nodes that look to be like they will not produce any good buds.
The 3rd week of flower you can do the same.
After that no more trimming unless needed. You can do leave tucking.
The plant needs it leaves at this point and will not most likely make many more new ones. As it is now making buds or flowering full time.

What if they are autos then?

So far, Ive just been removing any leaves that blocks light to any bud site. Those that can be tucked will be tucked. Those that are stubborn will be removed. I remove all kinds of leaves regardless of position, whether top or bottom. When i look through the bush sideways or from top, I need to see some light reaching soil. Just some will do.

So far, zero stress even with supercropping 5-6 branches. The only thing I'm worried about is when they move further into flowering. They are only 36 days old. Showed sex on day 23-24. 1-2 plants are showing tiny moth balls on 100% of budsites. Others are following with only about 50% or lesser.

My concern is that my wild defoliation might affect bud growth later on. Is this a valid concern? They are still stretching though. I absolutely love my cobs and they are on 24 hours light from birth.
