Hi folks, just completed my first grow, went almost too good, beginners luck perhaps.
I let hang dry for 5 days, and seemed dry enough to jar......
BUT, since in the jar which I open 2x day, My medicine, seems to be moist(but no sweeting)
Is this normal? I do not know the rh.

Thanks in advance!

It is normal and part of the curing process. Just continue burping the jars. A RH meter in the jars would take all the guess work of curing. Keep an eye on your buds, if they feel really wet take them out the jar for more air drying around 12-24 hours.

Hey eyewin, just slip one of these babies in the jar with the bud. leave the lid on for five hours or so for the RH to level out through the bud, then check the reading. Once you reach 65 - 60% RH leave that lid on for a few weeks.

The stems should snap when breaking one to test. If the stems just kind of bends over with no snap sound, you got a little while longer to go in the drying stage. If you over dry, an orange peel in the jar can moisten them back up and give a hint of citrus smell to the weed.

If you over dry, the ability to do a good and proper cure goes right out the window. It's better to slightly under dry and be vigilant with a RH meter. The slower the better.

I find that leaving excessive leaf left on the bud tends to extend the curing time, so be sure to do at least a rough manucure prior to jarring.

Usualy I trim all major fan leaves then I hang the colas & buds and do a quick initial drying on the stem. In regaurd to wether or not to leave any fan leaf:
  • If you have Excessive RH - Remove most of the fan leaf prior to hang drying.
  • Excessivly low RH - Leave some of the the fan leaf, especially on colas near the tip, this will help to prevent the tips from over drying like brittle glass.

Within 2-3 days, when bent, the stem "cracks slightly" but are still too moist to "break" and the bud edges feel firm enough to support their own weight i.e., won't get flat sides while on a drying screen, I trim the buds off the stems and place them on a warm fan blown (80ºF± 47%RH) drying screen for a day or so.

Often the outer part of the bud will feel a bit crisp, but the inner portion still has excess moisture, now is when I'll jar & burp religiously. The moisture will average out among the buds over the next week or so.
