Grow Mediums Dumb question-amount of grow media

Im gonna order some 10" pots for my 5 gal. buckets. what amount of pebbles or other media should I buy to fill all 8 10" pots?

I'm not american so unfortunately don't understand gallons and inches. Wish you guys would switch over to metric like the rest of the world already and stop being difficult

See usually I buy say 11 Litre pots. So I would put 10 Litres of medium into it (leaving 1 litre spare at the top for making watering easier.) So the medium comes in 50 Litre bags, so I'll say 1 bag will do 5 pots.

If you want to work out the capacity of your 10inch pots you can either doing it using math. Or you can put a plastic bag into it. Pour water into the bag so it fills the net pot. Then pour that water into a measuring jug and use the same principle I use for my 10 Litre pots.

Clay pebbles for Hydro??Dunno bout that,I dont do Hydro bro..sorry. Yeah I wish we were Metric too to be honest..it'd be sooo much easier..lol.thats why I have a measurement chart around..lol.Liquid mostly. but for 5 gallon Buckets like worker paint Hydro 5 gallon buckets?Or standard ole trade gallon Buckets?smaller trade gallon buckets are 0.71 true gallons for every single gallon.so a 3 trade gallon pot for example is 2.2 Gallons true.

But I got a 1.5 Cubic Foot bag and got 3 5 trade gallon pots filled.And one and a half 5 gallon hydro/painter styled buckets.you could get two per bag if you ammended it with perlite,extra used soil and so on. and leave a touch of room like HH mentioned.dunno how many times Ive spilled water over the side of a too full pot n went DOH!!!! dernit lol

Before you order 10" pots for 5 gal buckets you should look how big they are.. I went with 6" as it will give you more water in your 5 gal bucket so you wont have to water as much.and way less hydroton to buy. GL.

I agree, 10" net pots are probably overkill for 5 gallon buckets. My RDWC system uses 8 gallon buckets with 8" pots. 6" ones should be big enough for 5 gallon buckets. Yeah, but no matter how many times as you hear that, you still wonder before you ask lol i found some 6'' pots for the same 5 gallon buckets. Just need to figure out how much to buy now.

My first grow I read the back of the nutes and it said "add 1ml per l". I had to ask a mate if they meant 1ml of each or altogether, should have seen the look I got lol but if you don't know......

Just get one bag of what I linked to in post #5 and you'll have enough to fill at least 15 - 20 6" net pots.
