Just thought I should share this here since it worked so well for me.

I installed my ventilation a few days ago, and built a super cheap(it didn't cost me a dime) fan silencer.

All I did was roll up a piece of carpet around the end of the fan for sizing, and duct tape it all the way down to seal it up. They say that the rule is for it to be 3 times as long as the ducting is in diameter, so for a 4" fan like mine, it should be 12". I only made mine 8", and it still makes a really really noticeable difference. Stealth isn't my main concern, which is why I went shorter. This thing really works. It didn't cost me anything, because I had some old carpet laying around, and had duct tape. I'm sure anyone could take a drive around the neighborhood or to the local carpet store and find a scrap piece to make this with for free..

Here are some pictures of the silencer and the installation. Super easy, and really effective.
