Hi everyone
I've been going over the water report for my supply and if your water had this set of figures would expect to be adding calmag or anything else?

Water report
Cac03 mg/l water hardness 75
Ca mg/l 30
Ph 7.5
I dont think i even seen mag on the list of everything and how many tests were done"
My ec meter reads in ms, i took a reading of my tap water last night and came up with a reading of 0.0ms my meters been in storage for awhile untill i used it last night to take afew readings.
All those readings were 0.0ms i calibrated my meter before i took the tests but all testes turned out at 0.0ms but now today after i did the same im getting a reading of 0.1 which is around 50ppms if im right?
Im gonna try take afew more tests later, on the meter packet it says that if you think the readings wrong put it in ec liquid and it should show 2.8 which it does. Im woundering that last night was waking it up from its sleep and not today after 2 more calibrated tests aswell its working ok now? (Hope so it cost £45)

It sounds to me like your meter is bad, and it likely is if it wasn't stored with either storage solution ,ior at a minimum, the calibration solution. also, the water reports i get are more betailed, can't tell much from yours. Get a new meter then test.

Hi Potsmoker

Anyone??????

Sounds like my time to shine

Yes - you'll need some nutrients.

I would recommend Grow/Veg nutes which will have more Nitrogen in them to start with. When your vertical growth stops, you should move on to bloom nutes whcih will have a higher P & K Value - This will develope your buds.

Like humans, plants with no food willl soon get angry .. and then die.

You'll need some PH down to to get your mixture of water and nutes at the right PH.

I use a little bit of cal mag each watering (a very little) It's more preventive than corrective.

Looking into it a bit more, I checked my EC on my extremely hard water

My levels are 200-300mg on the scale and the readings are 0.4EC

I would say that your water is soft and therefor has a very low EC and the meter which at £45 is possibly an "essentials" meter is most likely correct. (I use the same kit)

:tiphat:

Another benefit of soft water is you use less PH down. (at least i do when i use the tesco bottled water which is wayyyyy softer) ^_^

Hey guys thanks for the info"
The ec meter i have is from essentials plus my ph meter is, it said to soak in distilled water for 15mins before storage which i done.
Im gonna go with the canna nutes as its a complete feed plus it was made for soil in containers so i think thats the best.
The greendream no1 nutes are also a complete feed but its for hydro and soil.

Someone said it could be bad, is there anything i could do to test it? Like if i put 1ml of nutes into water and take a reading which the would make it 0.5?

Hey smoker, I got yer PM.. I think Blue has it right. And, while I've not used Canna nutes, many do and love them, so right on with the nutes :) BLue mentions that your water is soft- meaning low PPM/EC out of the tap, so if there isn't much/any calcium or magnesium suspended in it, you WILL have an easier time with pHing the nute juice. My PPMs, from a sand aquifer well, are 150-200 consistantly, and I have to be careful how much pH up or down I use. Too much (we're talking 30-40 ml, not drops) and it'll destabilize your solution- it just won't lock down to the desired pH. Your essentials meter is probably fine. Time to feed those youngsters! Best to you.
