Having read this it seems almost impossible use CO2 effectively. Anyone with first hand experience have any recommendations?

Here is the best article in CO2 in the growroom I've found, lots of good info!

That's the article I forgot to link. Thanks.
Makes it sound useless to try to supplement co2. Sealing the grow room? An exhaust fan would suck the co2 right out. And she says temps have to be between 85 and 95 to be effective. Seems pointless.

I'm running a CO2 burner in my hydro room. It's a closed environment, no outside air intake and no venting. I can do this because I'm running LEDs and T5s. If I were using HPS, I couldn't run a closed room. I'm using an Atlas 3 controller which allows me to set a maximum level and then automatically sets the low level 200 ppm lower. So if I'm running 1500 ppm, the burner kicks on when it hits 1300 ppm. It also has a photo cell so it only works during lights on. I have two 18" barn fans for internal circulation. I learned the hard way how important good circulation is. The two plants that were right under the burner suffered from C02 acidification. The pH on that side of the pots (15 gallon), dipped to 5.6 while the side away from the burner stayed at 6.4. I do see a difference, especially in veg as that article stated. It's also important to cut the levels way back in late flowering. If not, the result is loose buds. I'm not seeing the 30 or 40% increase that some claim, at least not yet. I'd peg it more along the lines of 15% or so.

The people who are using CO2 with HPS lights are using sophisticated environmental controllers that control their burner, exhaust fans, A/C, humidifier and dehumidifier. They basically turn everything off when they are venting, then back on after venting so they they minimize the amount of A/C and CO2 loss.

Muddy, do you think those co2 bags they sell work

I've never tried them myself. If you're exhausting your area it's only going to suck it out. To me, it's only worth it if you can run a closed room.

I think I'm going to skip the CO2 for now. Too messy. Funny thing is the notion came up because I was discussing the result of my grow with the guy who sold me the led light to the effect I'd have liked to see the buds tighter. He suggested CO2 could address the issue.

I just finished several strains under a pair of Topled 300 watt lights. I had some rock hard buds, so don't buy that the light had anything to do with it. Yes CO2 is really only if you can run a sophisticated growroom. Personally, I think the only thing good about the CO2 bags is the mushrooms you have when their done....

I think that's a wise decision. That guy is misinformed. Most CO2 schedules I've seen have it cut way back in late flowering, usually down to 400 or 500 ppm. I ran too much too late on my first grow and got some loose buds. Second grow I cut it back and the buds were a lot tighter.

Yeah, thats always been a funky thing man.imho,it really all boils down to how many plants in any space as to how much (if any in all honesty)CO2 supplement your either going ,or not going to need.I grow in a 5X5 Tent thats 7ft tall and I ( i need mine replaced actually LOL) use four of the (Freshness is key imo.along with warmth of the bags too) grow bags as supplemental for the cool times of the year growing all grow long and have seen excellent results imo with an enrichment periodically to boost stages of growth and lightly through the grow seems to work excellent within organics.Chems..eh I have a few grows with them and in all honesty Im un impressed with Chem CO2 use.but thats my two cents.Awesome stuff!
