Random musing..
I spent some time this afternoon reclaiming soil from my last grow. Put it in this handy 10 gallon round tote I found, and picked out the hydroton, a lava rock or two, and those gossamer bits of root ball that seem to have a codependent relationship with every micron of perlite in the pile.. Finished up, and washed my hands...
Then, about 20 minutes later, my forearms start ITCHING something fierce!!
My stoned mind goes into underdrive, wondering why? Why are my arms crankbugging like an East Vancouverite?? Then it hits me...
Soil..6 kinds of bacteria.. organic larvaecide.. bat shit..bird shit.. some kind of vomit from an ancient Bonzai tree.....

ICK!!!! I feel like I need a flea dip!

Bhahaaaaaahaaa that's awesome and hilarious lmaozzzz! I haven't had a reaction yet, but there can be some serious stuff in a well done soil. I've been reclaiming my used soil too, even keep almost all the old roots in there to break down. I put the used soil in a big bin with the unused soil and break it up and mix it in Those lava rocks, smash em up into bits with a hammer and toss em in the soil bin too. Roots love little airy rock bits to cling on to.

I hope Amazon sells those long gloves.. The ones they use to go up the cow exit ramp.... I've scrubbed my arms 4 times, and it still tickle/stings! The consolation is that I reckon I have the makings of a good hand-me-down soil lolol

yeah i prefer to get my hands dirty unless Im mixing heavy/wet soil(s) and/or really nasty fresh stuffs like you said you were using.lol but like i always say man

CLEAN YOUR GEAR!!LMFAO! Hands are gear too! ive not had that reaction but its not uncommon once dried n reactived my open pores n the reaction begins.so always rinse n rub your hands at the very least.LOL!That is pretty funny dude!!LMAO!!Gla yer ok.always be careful when playing with microbes.get as nasty as ya wanna man,just clean off the nastier ya get.and NO need to use antibacterial stuff just as an fyi too. plain mild soap n water will do just fine.unless your prone to something then Id break out my surgical scrub lol!!

I use a soap with a sand in it, I've noticed the dryness I was getting from working with soil has lessened since.

I use for heavy soiled issues a SOY based gritty mechanics scrub I used to use in the marina's.Made by Snap on too.all natural and moisturizing too.I use cream from time to time from lite hand creams to bag balm too LMFAO!! depends on how much im working

I got a million lil tips man LMFAO!! i went through it for years working with chemicals n tough jobs, and my moms gets badly fried hands as well.I bet farmers and a select few got that but yeah man teat Salve LMFAO!!!! works awesome if your hands n areas are super bad if left over night,but ya'll prolly know that already LMAO! i use others as well.but half gloves and a clean and a spritz of hand cream.easy.lol
