I find this to be untrue a lot of indy dom's will go into flower with as much as 14 hours of dark? and a lot of sativas won't even bat an eye till your rite in 12/12.......
how does your statement contradict the statement that plants need a long night to flower. 12 to 14 hours of darkness would constitute a long night? the discussion here is about using IR to speed up PFR/PR conversion to put plants to sleep faster. normally this conversion and the shift from day time to night time activities takes 2 hours.if the conversion is sped up the plants can get as much work done and produce as much flowering hormone in a little less time. phytochrome simply acts as the plants time clock telling it which cycle to enter and where to produce cells.

My bad I'll edit that to 10 hours of dark....

Inda gro pontoons leds adds 730 in my garden.
But its only at lights out, for pfr.
It doesn't provide Emerson effect.
An I'm not sure what pfr would do to an auto flower?

This winter I'll supplement with halogen for cheep IR suplement / Emerson effect .

the Emerson effect has only been demonstrated invitro and only occurs in the absence of 439nm light.when chlorophyll A is stimulated to S2 levels with 439nm light it does not use deep reed light and actually emits light at 660nm. many led grow lights only provide 450-460nm blue light and use deep red to stimulate chlorophyll A to S1 levels. at this lower level of excitement IR may increase activity (Emerson effect) but I know of no peer reviewed study that shows this effect invivo
